Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

With this sale we can close this thread.

I also expect to see a lot of movement on transfers and contract extensions from this week.

First up, today's click-bate has Guehi "running down his contract" (i.e. what we would call: "staying") and not going to Liverpool...
I think you are being both precipitous and over optimistic.

The purchase needs to be approved by the League first and then Eufa need to confirm they will clear our participation in the Europa League.

Only once that is clarified will things begin to happen but those expecting shed loads of money to start to rain down in South London are likely to be disappointed. He is an investor not a benefactor so will be evaluating the likely returns on everything.

Being a billionaire is not a guarantee he will be throwing money around. It's an investment, so a degree of caution as to what to expect is common sense. As for his Trump connection, why should we embrace this? It's hardly something we should take pride in.
Why are you bringing your political opinion into it as though its fact? I personally think Trump has done more for the US economy than Biden and Obama combined but do I care about American politics? No. Is it in any way relevant who Johnson is friends with? No

Because I can't see how it aligns with the clubs values, but I don't expect everyone to agree with that. As others have said, he was late to joining the Trump camp, and there are probably at least nineteen worse investors currently in the Premier League.
Ultimately, we all hope that he offers financial support without too much meddling. We seem to finally have things aligned and it would be gutting to see it derailed.
The post I was originally responding to was concerned that the HF might raise a voice. Given that last year a banner criticising Textor's involvement as a multi-club was displayed it's not always a bad thing.
Palace is my club as well as all others on this board and beyond. The club's values are and have always been about pride in its community, fair play and hard work to compete at the highest level possible. Trying to spin it that the clubs values are not in line with ANY political stance it frankly an attempt to hijack the clubs values to suit your own leanings. I dont care about politics. People go to football to escape from that crap for a couple of hours. Far as I'm concerned your political opinion (as well as mine) have no rellevance

How much of that budget was predicated on Guehi leaving?
Fair question. I wonder how much Parish feels we can still get for Marc. £45m? £50m? I guess it depends on how much competition there is for Guehi's signature

Our clubs values ???? We're an English professional football club that's pays grown adults, millions of pounds to kick an inflated ball of air around for entertainment. I don't think they're particularly interested in leading the free world or care less who's the president of the US.

I don't remember there being a vote on club values.
If you are talking about virtue signalling as a business practice, then I guess we know what you mean.

The values of fans are their own business. If you look at the other Palace site, you might assume that the club was infested by Leftists. I'm guessing that they are just the ones who make the most noise.

The clubs 'values' should be to be successful on and off the field. Politics shouldn't enter into it.
Like I said, I don't expect everyone to agree around the politics of owners, and I'm not talking about virtue signalling. I'm talking about values of family and community. This is central to Palace PR campaign, (which none of us vote for), and has been widely identified in recent media reporting.

OK, but I'm not sure what that means.

How is Donald Trump against family and community?

What is community in this content? Do you have a community? I certainly don't know what mine is.

Are you talking about fan base? That is the only 'community' the club should be interested in.

You're talking tripe. Presumably because you hate Trump and are trying to find some way of wangling that hatred into a discussion about Palace's most recent investor.

And yet we still push the 'South London and Proud' narrative. The values don't have to be the reality. Do you really think that the loaves of Hovis in the supermarket are made by a friendly northern baker who works out the back of his cottage at top of t'hill?

You wouldn't think the club would've expedited the sale of Textor's share if UEFA hadn't indicated that it would help our cause in terms of Europa qualification. Seems too coincidental otherwise.
Agreed,
As has been suggested elsewhere, Uefa may need a way out to avoid Palace appealing their no verdict to CAS as they are afraid of losing in that forum. The sale of Textor's shares, therefore, may well provide Uefa with a get out of jail free card that will enable them to allow us to participate without their facing any serious comeback from the likes of Forest and a certain South Coast club.

Sounds like a bit of a rich clueless plonker. Let's hope he leaves Parish in control and not his two sons 😳

He did (jointly) build the NY Jets stadium (with the NY Giants) at a cost of US$1.6 billion - the most expensive in the USA at the time (2010) and it is scheduled to hold the World Cup Final next year

The stadium has helped the Jets become the 7th most valuable franchise in the NFL despite the worst record of the longest run without reaching the playoffs.

This previous successful investment in infrastructure is a positive. It's what we need. Perhaps wringing every penny out of a stadium once built won't be so palatable but an issue for a future time.

Good info cheers. Are we allowed to spend what we want on the stadium without it affecting FFP?
