European football

of course 'Europe' now includes Ireland, for football purposes. Palace could find ourselves in the confusing situation of playing in Dublin. Us supported by some Palace-fans speaking with the local irish accent......against Shamrock Rovers who have many fans who are English Nigels.

Local TV coverage has a fecker called Damien Delaney...........not sure who he ever played for.

UEFA has always included Ireland.

Real Betis, Celta Vigo, Freiburg, Lille and Lazio are the representative's from Spain, Germany, France and Italy for next seasons Europa League, not much to fear there, so Champions League the following year, that should get the players thinking 😍
Real Betis are from Seville.
I might be tempted to watch our team in a delightful city I have visited many years ago and had a jolly nice time.
In actual fact, whilst I had heard of Real Betis I never knew they were based in Seville until I was alerted to this fact by a Spanish waiter in the city.

He seems like a really levelheaded and decent person. There are 2 ways to look at it. One is he just honours his contract and leaves having had a superb few years at palace where he has been outstanding. The other is we get all pissed off with him because he does a Trent and we get nothing for a £100 million pound player.

I say let him stay, see how we do next year and if he goes we have well and truly had our moneys worth, wish him well and thanks for the memories
We have had great value out of him but losing out on a transfer fee on him would be a big blow. There are certainly clubs after him this summer but if he wants guaranteed Champions League for the rest of his career then he probably has to go abroad as even City aren't a sure thing these days. Madrid, of course, have just signed Huijsen.
Liverpool loved TAA until they didn't
One alternative is to offer him a one year extension whilst doubling his wage. Then see how next year goes. Not to get ahead of ourselves but Glasner has already won the Europa and if Spurs and United are the quality that wins it from now on then why not Palace?

Thats exactly what I'd do.

Basically asking him to lead us in to Europe, and if you still want to go, you can next Summer

Also Holland's Go Ahead Eagles have qualified funnily enough winning their first trophy as well in 92 Years. With the Final ( should we reach it 😍)to be played in Istanbul

the cathedral is quite exquisite, according to Rough Guide the guy who built it said "we wanted to build something so magnificent posterity would think we were mad". Didn't go in the Alcazar, but yes, lovely city, and with the new set up we can't get stuck in a group with only Glentoran, Minsk and a team from Kazakhstan.

I have been thinking this for a while and mentioned it to my son yesterday. From Guehi’s point of view it makes very good sense - leave on a free and get a massive contract from the new club. I personally would welcome seeing him in a Palace shirt for one more season. The person most likely to be pissed off is Steve Parish, but if Guehi is clear in his mind and sticks to his guns there isn’t much Steve can do about it.

I also read today that Spurs want Eze but will bid less than his release clause. If there’s any truth in that Levy really is a 🤡 (hope the clown emoji works)

Ever since I was a kid I’ve yearned for European football at selhurst, I used to see English teams in Europe back in the 70’s and 80’s playing great old European names like Borussia Monchengladbach, Hadjuk Split, St Etienne, Red Star Belgrade, Anderlect, Dinamo Moscow, Lokomotive Leipzig etc how great would it be to play Eintract Frankfurt or Glasgow Rangers at Selhurst?

I don’t care about the impact on the rest of the season and can our squad cope? I seriously can’t wait, bring on the draw
Like ,some other oldens I expect, I watched Palace V inter Milan at SP in the Anglo-Italian Cup (C1970) Now 55 years later will have some other Europeans playing here ! Worth the wait.

Why on gods earth would Eze go there. They are not very good and supported Arsenal as a kid.

Seville, in my Opinion is the nicest city in Spain, lots of Parks, Lakes and things to see, don't go in August though, 45 in the Summer, there is a Pub/nightclub/Something, opens until 4.30 in the morning and reminds me of the Hotel California, Casa Ozama.

Our pitch is only 101 metres long. It has to be 105 metres, which has been approved by losing a few rows in the Whitehorse. So this will no doubt be our first part of ground redevelopment this summer. ( It is already wide enough 68m. which we have Malcolm Allison to thank for. He persuaded the board to widen the pitch and improve the playing surface on his arrival, as well as turning us red and blue and giving us the Eagles nickname.)
Also Glasner was saying he needs three more players.
So our board has some hefty decision making.
We need to hold onto our manager, coaching staff and players.
Considering we are in Europe now, coupled with the fantastic support and atmosphere around our club, it is hard to see why anyone would leave if we build on our success ( other than money of course).
After everything Parish has achieved for our club (which is already massive) I am very confident both he and our board will find all the necessary solutions to launch us higher than most of our dreams.
Bring it on!! We have arrived.
which is really interesting & may explain why we are more consistant away from home, the larger pitches we play on allow us more room to stretch teams on the counter! a bigger pitch could help us be more consistant.

The Cathedral is Fantastic, there is a wall they call the Gold Bible, Pictures for the people who couldn't read, don't bother with the tower, or the Alcazar, there is only one Palace.

One rumour today is that Guehi is intent on running down his contract with a view to joining one of the European giants for free (presumably like Alexander Arnold).

No idea if true, but if he did would it be the worst thing in the world?
He's our captain, we have Europe to contend with and he demonstrates consistent excellence which we would miss.

Sure, we would forego a transfer fee.

But against that another season would give the club an opportunity to see what a fit Riad could bring (or another defender if purchased).
Guehi staying also maintains our strong defensive spine which has been the main component our good form in recent months.
I'd be happy if he stays another season, even if the financial people wouldn't.
He cost £20 ISH. What an investment to get us to Europe and further in the comp. He's world class, why not, wouldn't stop the hunt and buy for another player anyway

Wow, just noticed that AL final next year is in Istanbul at stadium of my hometown team 😇 It would be quite exciting to support Palace to win Euro trophy at my hometown team’s stadium (and our house was there when i was born).

One note, that stadium belongs to Beşiktaş and they will also be in AL next year, and their symbol is Eagles as well 😊
