European Football. A wonderful and terrifying prospect.
I dunno I think we might have just knocked Brighton out of europe without even crossing the channelEuropean Football. A wonderful and terrifying prospect.
You can certainly imagine the Management meeting on Monday morning starting with - Holy fxxx what have we done!!!European Football. A wonderful and terrifying prospect.
Maybe he just meant it'll be a bit bigger.glanser mentioned something about the stadium being ready for eufa competition? cant think what we would have to do to be compliant?
looking at the other teams in the comp, we should be competitive!
Hear Hear !After the euphoria, now the reality.
At some stages this season we had 2 goalkeepers, 2 veterans and 3 untried youngsters on the bench.
This is unlikely to be sustainable for the future.
Next season we face more fixtures, more travel, more Thursday/Sunday fixtures, the potential for more injuries and suspensions.
It's not presently clear who's leaving other than Ward, but we need more strength in depth and ideally more players who can play more than one position (like Lerma, Clyne and Sarr).Versatility could be a real asset.
We can't just assume our long term injuries will be able to return in pre season.
The club will know all this and hopefully will address the matter whatever the background uncertainty surrounding the club.
Turner’s on loan. We'll just need a cup squad and a league squad - we've currently got five defenders if you include Lerma and Riad, we'll need six or seven, we've got five central midfielders (inc Lerma again) so no probs there - perm two from five, Esse and Franca are ready made replacements for Eze (if he stays) and Saar, and we've got Eddie for JP, so not that far off. It's back up wing backs where we are seriously lacking.
Europa/FA/Carabo XI atm:
Turner, Kporha, Chilwell's replacement, Riad, Lerma, new centre back, Devenny, Hughes, Esse, Nketiah, Franca.
Looking at our best second XI tells you where we need to strengthen, we'll no doubt get a Ben Davies type player who can play full back or centre back - a Joel Ward replacement basically who can do wing back as well, two of them actually, a leftie and a righty, then Lerma can be more midfield then cover for defence - Hughes and Lerma in the middle is strong, and if we have to replace Eze we need someone like Sarr who can also play centrally. So if we get players with a bit of versatility we may only need three of four added to what we've got now to make it work - that's not taking into account those who are probably leaving.
Straight in babyAre we in the Europa league, league phase already or do we still have to go through the qualifying rounds ???
Our pitch is only 101 metres long. It has to be 105 metres, which has been approved by losing a few rows in the Whitehorse. So this will no doubt be our first part of ground redevelopment this summer. ( It is already wide enough 68m. which we have Malcolm Allison to thank for. He persuaded the board to widen the pitch and improve the playing surface on his arrival, as well as turning us red and blue and giving us the Eagles nickname.)glanser mentioned something about the stadium being ready for eufa competition? cant think what we would have to do to be compliant?
