Do you even bother to Vote ?

None Of The Above should be compulsory on every ballot paper. They wont do it because the politicians are scared the amount of people who will put an X in that box which means they will have to do something about it.

At the moment they can ignore "spoiled" ballot papers as the "confused public" who didn't understand what they were doing. However as an election officials for decades I can tell you most people who spoil their paper know exactly what they are doing as I have seen and read their comments.
I think that is a sensible idea which would send a message to the politicians as a whole.

If the last twenty years hasn't taught us that democracy in the west is part myth I don't know what else would be needed to demonstrate it.

The whole system is designed to ensure that nothing really changes and that anyone offering anything significantly different from what the ruling class wants never gets a chance to rule.
The whole system was designed to give everyone the opportunity to choose who represents them Which it does.

That it could be improved by the introduction of PR seems true to me. As does that getting it in the current circumstances almost impossible until we get a seriously hung parliament.

The idea that there is a “ruling class” is the myth. There is no such thing at all. There are some who regard politics as their destiny but by no means are these all. Others do offer things and have done since politics first emerged. Some make their arguments and see success. Others don’t. The problem is that some think they ought to rule even though they remain a minority.

Because they don’t know if the decision not to vote is made because of laziness or disinterest rather than the more positive reason of disapproval.
As long as the possibility remains it should be considered and criticising those exercising this option won't help the situation.

This morning on the news Chris Philp my local M.P. is spouting about transgender issues, this is why the tories are unlovable, most working people are more bothered about, wages, inflation, bills, interest rates, unemployment, workers rights etc. No wonder the tories popularity is plummeting,as they say in the U.S.A where's the meat?

'Transgender' has been in the news recently following the Supreme Court's landmark judgement.

Educating people about the realities of politics at an early stage of their life would help.

educating them ? that all politicians are lying toerags ? and that citizen's vote makes little difference to a rigged game ? and that most important decisions are not even on the table ? And that the ideological differences, on offer, of the mainstream are virtually nil. That meritocracy is an illusion. Certainly where really nepotism & DEI are rife.

The paragraph above may be cynicism. But its easy to find a ton of evidence to support it.

During Soviet Communism, everybody voted. And certainly all of the above were true. And in the West today ? you decide.

Well it's now been ruled as not on biological women !

Many voters will be disappointed to have had a continuation of the last 14 years, more privatisation and benefit cuts the usual tory fare and the cost of living worse.

Banking, landlordism and wealth and a country scraping along the bottom as it has since the financial crisis, made worse by brexit it's difficult to find any positives.

😎

Of course no Labour MPs have been spouting about it, have they! TBF 2TK has said f*** all, again. Perhaps he doesn’t want to upset his “friends”

At least we can vote every four or five years to kick out one lot of incompetents who make the laws that govern us for another lot. If we were still in the EU we would not be able to do that as MEPS are unquestionably powerless puppets.

After years of living in a seat that switched only between the Yellow Tories and the Tories I finally moved into a swing constituency of Labour/Tory, then they moved the boundaries and put a big scoop out from a previously oval shaped constituency which will never ever be anything other than Tory to include my new build estate, so there's no point. I swear I'm being trolled.

It's "North Cotswolds" which literally includes Cameron's home and that set of posh rich coke snorters alongside Stow on the Wold, Bibury, Bourton-On-The-Water, Moreton-In-Marsh and other Grade II listed building very wealthy cottage districts.

Vomit.

North Cotswolds is quite nice, why do you want to ruin it with Labour running things there.

Benefit cuts ? they have not been harsh enough. Certainly when you reflect upon some of the high-fertility ghettos popping up across the West. Generous dole = expensive housing for working people.

Every country with a modest Welfare-State also has abundant cheap housing. And the corollary is also true. Or as ex-Lefty Michael Portillo said.....when you throw free money at poor people, you just end up with even more poor people.

I haven't in either of the last two general elections, and can't imagine that will change soon.

The system itself is undemocratic and the parties are barely distinguishable - a waste of time.
