US Politics

Bad planning by other countries then and assumptions the USA gravy train would keep on chugging I guess !
There was certainly a well founded belief that none of the western countries, bound together by common standards, would abandon those standards and start to behave in the despotic way the Trump administration is doing. Trust in your partners ought not be an assumption. It ought to be a certainty. It will take a very long time for that trust to be reestablished. Who will suffer the most? I think it will inevitably be the USA.

Tesla shares bought and sold and re buying to make a profit. Even though musk will benefit and you hate him.
If you didn’t have double standards you would have none !

a) I've never claimed to hate Musk.
b) I'm not sure how rich you think I am, but the amount I am trading makes absolutely zero difference to the richest man on the planet
c) You've invented a standard for me and then accused me of not meeting it

Other than that, you're spot on.

Yes, hard to ignore the over-representation in child-rape, terrorism, honour killings, electoral fraud and attacks on blasphemers and apostates.
More perceptions or misconceptions.

Criminals deserve punishment but we must be blind to everything other than that they are criminals or the innocent start getting victimised when we need them to be our eyes and ears.

This demands much work with, and education within, minority ethnicities. It also demands that we remain calm, vigilant and determined. We mustn’t think knee jerk simplistic solutions are are available. They aren’t.

We also need to support and understand our police as they struggle to balance competing objectives with overstretched resources.

Yes, lets just pretend that Muslims are not way over-represented in child-rape, terrorism, honour killings, electoral fraud and attacks on blasphemers and apostates - let alone the sheer scale and heinousness of the crimes.

I am not pretending anything! I don’t have the statistics. Do you? I don’t think they exist so anything that’s claimed is empirical at best. I state what’s true. Not what’s unknown.

Any reports on this tend to look at ethnicity rather than religious belief. What does exist does not bear out your first claim:-

The second is also questionable given that the police seem more concerned about right wing extremism these days. Honour killings do seem to be restricted to one religion, but I condemn them just as I, as an atheist, condemn all religion founded violence. Something various Christian Churches have a poor record in. Attacks on blasphemers and apostates are also condemned, from whomever they come.

What I am though recommending is that we look at things differently and search for approaches that deliver solutions rather than just rhetoric.

This isn’t the USA where an out of control President can threaten to send their own citizens abroad to receive brutal punishments. We need to solve the problems. Not complain they exist.

I would say I heard more about Ramadan and Eid than Easter and Lent this year, so something is changing...
What do you think that is?

I think it’s a trend among the majority population that’s been going on for many decades. We are no longer a religious country, so celebrating Easter is not widespread.

I haven’t heard anything about either Ramadan or Eid either but I don’t look for it. Maybe you use different sources.

A government ‘Contest’ Report of 2023 states that 67% of terrorist attacks since 2018 were Islamist. 75% of MI5’s caseload is related to Islamist terrorism. 64% of those in custody for terrorist related offences are Muslims.
Christians are the most persecuted religion in the world – especially in Islamic countries. Numerous murderous attacks on them are hardly reported in the media while the mildest supposed insult to Islam is.
Child-rape gangs composed of overwhelmingly Muslim rapists operated in Rochdale, Rotherham, Oxford, Telford, Leeds, Birmingham, Norwich, Burnley, High Wycombe, Leicester, Dewsbury, Middlesbrough, Peterborough, Bristol, Halifax, Newcastle, Huddersfield, Hull, and other places. In Telford around 1,000 girls, some as young as 11 were systematically abused by followers of Mohammed, 1,500 in Rotherham.
Meanwhile people with a similar outlook to yourself sought to cover it up, make vague excuses for it. Of course such despicable evasion of the truth is still attempted by people like you – who the hell do you think you are fooling.

If we’re going this far off topic I’ll state my position.
I find Islam an abhorrent religion. Sharia law is brutal. The actions of Muslims has been tolerated to a ridiculous degree by successive timid governments, central and local.

There are plenty of Islamic countries, surely they’ll welcome their Muslim brothers if a scheme of assisted emigration was adopted.

Ah some common ground at last!

You hate the weath disparity so musk with billions fills that one.
Comparing your position because you arnt a millionaire is a bit of a swerve.
Filled both above points with your b) really.
It’s what you are trading that’s the point.
Double standards fit with the lefts opinions. Ask one with a refugees welcome banner to accommodate one and that’s sorted then!
