Crystal Palace vs. Brighton match thread

Why was Nkethia given an ovation as he trugged off, he was dogsh"t and left his team down to 10 men. A key derby game, which is important to fans and he disadvantages his team and gets cheered off, bizarre.
Maybe cos the 1st yellow was a travesty. Should have been a pen. Maybe cos he is a Palace player who has been working his socks off for the team. Maybe cos the supporters cheering are loyal Palace supporters. Not that difficult to understand.

Thought our early goal was the proverbial poisoned chalice as we were looking to see out the game after a couple minutes. Asides from a few instances was all them until half time. We looked as though we would just try and ride the storm and perhaps grab one on the counter.

Second half was a more competitive game and despite Taylor making an absolute shambles of the officiating we saw it through to the end. Wharton had a few mistakes in him but also looked out of place on occasions just through being a cut above the rest in class. And ‘class’ is the appropriate word for him.

Not only did we grind out the result despite the circumstances but I genuinely felt as though we were the better team, with the better manager. This is the best Palace side I’ve seen in my lifetime. I think my grievances are only ever a result of daring to dream even bigger, which I feel is a right every football fan is entitled to!

9 points above Spuds and 6 above United, going to Wembley in the Semi final of the FA Cup. Easy to lose track of just how good things currently are sometimes. But that’s football I suppose!

Superb win.

I don’t say it often because I’m a miserable old git, but I was proud of our team 2nd half today. We were clearly up against it with one of the worst refereeing performances I’ve seen in my life and I’m old!!
Absolutely disgraceful performance, no wonder Mourinho confronted him in that car park once, you can see his frustration, I wish he had lumped him one, it’s the arrogance of the man as well.
So well done our boys for showing the fighting spirit we love to dig in and hold on to the result against all the odds. Thankfully Lacroix wasn’t seriously hurt, but it didn’t look good at one stage, he was absolutely pole axed right in front of us and nothing from Taylor!!

No way was it a dive.
I was straight in front of Eddie when he got challenged for the ball , i was in the front row , no way was it a dive . When the ref blew his whistle i thought it was for a stone wall pen , never in a million years did i think he was getting booked for a dive . Ref was very very poor today and thats putting it very mildly . He was so bias, he would have rulled out the goals if he could have got away wit it . He put his marker down early in the first half when Wharton won the ball cleanly and he gave a free for it . I reckon there is some kind of agenda where they dont want Palace with a full team next week to beat City , or to quallify for Europe ! Us being riff raff .

kamada has had an ok game , I know many won't agree with me
His best game to date by miles. Still very lightweight. Like Eddie. But good passing forward. Big part of second goal. And got Brighton player sent off 🥳 finally some promising signs. I certainly trust Ollie. He must see something useful . Creative cover for Wharton/ Eze at least

One of the most crazy games I've ever been too. I just have no words.

Blimey that ref. there is ways to ruin a game and then there's that. Nketiah yes deserved the yellows. But you have to give Marc Guihe a warning before a second yellow.

It was the cards he didn’t give as well, the two challenges on Lacroix were dreadful challenges, the second one wasn’t even a challenge, he just launched himself at him.

I honestly thought Nketiah was unlucky today. The first yellow was so nearly a penalty, he just dived too late. The second, nasty high foot collision, but there was no way he could have known their man was there. It was the start of a remarkable twenty five minutes when our boys showed real character.
Unfortunate for Guehi, but he can't complain. Just a bit too rash and BAM! second yellow.
If their man had not stopped Kamada, he would have just had the keeper to beat, which he would have done easily!!
Great great result. Just hope we have not got any casualties.
And thats the point HE DIVED. It was blatent and far too late to get away with . Ref poor but that was correct decision.
