Crystal Palace vs. Brighton match thread

Anthony Taylor is an appalling ref. He has caused us to lose two players for the City game. Nketiah was unfairly booked for a dive where VAR should have given a penalty, and Guehi should not have been booked originally for a simple collision.

Brighton did not threaten much after we went down to 10 then 9 so it was a good defensive display after we threw away a lead by slackening off in the first half. Both of our goals were excellent.

I doubt we will get anything from the next three.

If ever a ref could’ve been responsible for sparking crowd trouble it’s that prick. His incompetence created a hostile last few minutes that could’ve boiled over off the pitch as well as on it

I was straight in front of Eddie when he got challenged for the ball , i was in the front row , no way was it a dive . When the ref blew his whistle i thought it was for a stone wall pen , never in a million years did i think he was getting booked for a dive . Ref was very very poor today and thats putting it very mildly . He was so bias, he would have rulled out the goals if he could have got away wit it . He put his marker down early in the first half when Wharton won the ball cleanly and he gave a free for it . I reckon there is some kind of agenda where they dont want Palace with a full team next week to beat City , or to quallify for Europe ! Us being riff raff .

Yup, a s*** decision, and he went for their diving all game though, falling over constantly and getting fouls given for them.

Short handed vs City I can understand, but with our full side back we can beat anyone. We can really defend, and our break is very dangerous.

Fantastic match, although I think I aged 12 years in the last 12 minutes.

Love the 9 vs 11 team. Only seen that once before holding a lead (nycfc). Players fight for every inch. Thought Hughes, Ward, Kamada, Chillwell and Devenny were massive.

Hendo Man of the match

You thought Kamada had a good game? That doesn’t fit in with the groupthink here. Even though he played well, good reading of the game, progressed the ball well and good energy from start to finish.

It was the cards he didn’t give as well, the two challenges on Lacroix were dreadful challenges, the second one wasn’t even a challenge, he just launched himself at him.
For me that was the issue with Taylor - the way he let them get away with several clear fouls and then pulling us up for the slightest of touches.

Having seen the highlights I have to accept that Guehi can have no complaints about either of his yellows. Nketiah, though, shouldn't have been booked for a dive. Even those MOTD "pundits" felt he was very unlucky because he was clearly caught by the defender.

The second Lacroix incident was shocking. no attempt to play the ball just a determination to poleaxe our player.

All our yellows today were yellows and second yellows. But come on the ref has to manage the game better. After sending of nketiah the ref has to give Guihe a strong strong warning and talking too.

He also let Brighton yellows go in the first half. I'm surprised Wharton didn't get a yellow for winning the ball clearly and the ref blew a foul 😯

I did however really enough Marc Guihe taking his time walking off the pitch with the ref and goalie shouting at him.

For the first time in years I slept through the 1am kick off time, waking at 3am.

Bleerily saw the result on the App. didn't read the match report, thought let's get up and enjoy the full replay.

What a bloody drama filled game that was, the goals, the send off's, Lacroix going down and 14 minutes of injury time. Lucky I knew the result, wouldn't have enjoyed watching that live.

Never seen Ollie so animated during those few minutes after Lacroix came off and he re-organised the team only for Guehi to be sent off almost immediately. What a manic few minutes.

Players heroic in the end, thanks Hendo. Hoping Richards is OK for City.

One question - what's the concussion protocol over there? In the AFL here, a concussed player cannot play for 11 days, anything similar in the EPL?

Just caught the highlights.

Great goal from Mateta, we look so good on the break.

Some marginal decisions in a very closely fought game, but I don’t think we can really complain for either sending off. Nketiah was looking for a penalty and he didn’t get caught, shame as he probably could have played on. High boot for the second, standard yellow. Guehi perhaps a little unlucky for the first as it was a 50-50 and he touched the ball but the Brighton player got there first and probably Guehi got the player marginally before the ball, similarly his second he was late and high with his studs showing. Brighton’s too, well earned by Kamada when down to 9.

Some heroic defending at the end and Henderson has had probably the best season for a Palace keeper since Martyn in 1991. Great derby, great atmosphere, team spirit and result. COYP

MOTD showed Ntekiah was clipped, I wouldn’t be surprised if Palace appealed against it…

I don't think we can appeal unless it's a straight red which is why VAR would not have looked at it.

Ironic, VAR will have checked to see if it was a penalty and decided not enough contact, the VAR team may even have thought yellow card is harsh but nothing they could do.
