Crystal Palace vs. Brighton match thread

I honestly thought Nketiah was unlucky today. The first yellow was so nearly a penalty, he just dived too late. The second, nasty high foot collision, but there was no way he could have known their man was there. It was the start of a remarkable twenty five minutes when our boys showed real character.
Unfortunate for Guehi, but he can't complain. Just a bit too rash and BAM! second yellow.
If their man had not stopped Kamada, he would have just had the keeper to beat, which he would have done easily!!
Great great result. Just hope we have not got any casualties.

On my way back from the game.

My main takeout is how old I am.

Hinshelwood was playing right back for Brighton and back in the day I used to watch his grandfather, Paul ( nicknamed 'Doris') play right back very effectively for Palace.

With regard to today it was a brave performance illuminated by a few moments of real quality.

Unlike others , I thought that Kamada had a really good game.
I sat around a dozen rows back from Glasner and you can see how quickly and accurately that Kamada moves the ball to prompt moves from us.
I'm not sure why Hughes didn't start (rustiness?), but Kamada did a good job for the team today.
I agree with you about Kamada, he's improved a lot in recent weeks. Some of his interceptions and passing were spot on.

I was not a fan originally, but my opinion is changing.

While Taylor had a poor game overall I can’t really see anything wrong with the sending’s off. Nketiah dived and was rightly booked then went in high when he was never winning the ball. Guehi’s second yellow was a poor challenge. Definitely a yellow and could have been a straight red, all be it a harsh one.

Should have been a straight red then, surely.

Well firstly, Nketiah might have gone down, but he'd been hit in the knees and then he didn't start whinging for a penalty either. To get a yellow for diving you need to

"attempt to deceive the referee by feigning injury or pretending to have been fouled (simulation)"

Nketiah did not do that. But versus Fulham in the last minute Pedro definitely did, not getting touched and rolling around firstly holding his shins, then his face, before getting up to take the kick to win the game. So the yellow card was wrong and rash by Taylor.
The second yellow, sure, you can argue, but Van Hecke ducked down to a pretty low ball at foot height, can't have been more than 5 foot up, and he should've put his own foot through it, particularly with his height of 6'2". He goes on to roll around slapping the ground like a WWE wrestler as if he's in agony. That's not the behaviour of a player that has been hurt. And as you can see, no blood, not a scratch.

Nketiah doesn't see him either, it's just not intentional at all. It's just poor judgement of football from Taylor.

Guehi's first booking was a really bad decision by Taylor and was totally fooled by the player diving without contact, and Guehi was really annoyed particularly as it was his first foul (wasn't even a foul) and so so deep in their half. The second, sure, caught him.

Taylor really enjoyed himself today flashing those cards about. Not a dirty game at all but he sure as hell managed to make it seem as if it was.

For me that was Kamadas best game. Still has things to improve on, but linked up play intelligently and made some important blocks and interceptions. Also, feels to me like he's much more trusted by the team now and integrated, rather than being on the periphery. However, one thing we missed was someone (Hughes) just to put their foot on the ball and dictate the pace a bit more, especially when 1-0 up. But the spirit of the team and the fans carried us through. Eagles!

TFFT. I am going to be very unpopular, more than I normally am, thought the ref got things spot on today, Guehi's 1st yellow, meh, soft, 2nd, could've been a straight red. Nketiah, fool to himself, pathetic dive & a tackle that U6's don't make(imo).

Now, who do we bring in to replace v City? I'm banking on Richards being fit, so Lerma slots in in place of Guehi. Who replaces Nketiah?, or, not bother? Thought/grief/abuse 😊

Why was Nkethia given an ovation as he trugged off, he was dogsh"t and left his team down to 10 men. A key derby game, which is important to fans and he disadvantages his team and gets cheered off, bizarre.
