Already the media are hailing Eddie Howe as the new Messiah. Fair enough he's team outplayed Liverpool and deserved it, but one swallow....

You just know that the media are desperate for Howe to be the next England manager.

When Eddie Howe took up the reins at Newcastle in 2021-22, they were 19th after 11 games.Howe guided them to a 11th place finish.
The following season they finished 4th and last season ended in 7th place.
At Bournemouth he was promoted twice and took the club into the PL.

It was more that liverpool were shite than any sort of masterclass from Eddie Howe . Dont get me wrong he is a decent manager but when you have the oppositions midget marking your giant at corners there is not really a lot you have to do but say " stick it on his nut"

Van Dickhead really showed his cowardice on that score , likes to give smaller players a wack off the ball but not man enough to face the challenge of a bigger one .

Liverpool deploy a 'Zonal marking' system with 5 players, aerially strong, near the goal.
They deploy 3 man-markers, Mac Allister being one of them.

yep turned us down and went for the money at Burnley who had the benefit of parachute payments at the time and he blew up there. With a net spend of more than Man City over the past five years winning the league cup is hardly an achievement.
 
Liverpool definitely looked jaded yesterday. Salah had very few touches and their forwards offered very little imagination in attack.

It pains me to say that Newcastle were the better team on the day, probably because Mum came from Sunderland and her dislike of the Geordies rubbed off on me.

it was a continuationism of their game against PSG. Despite what Arne said I thought they were poor and Salah was a peripheral figure. Instead of fixing that performance it was more of the same against Newcastle.

Well, it certainly should be a fun match, one way or another, especially if, at that stage, Arsenal have closed to within a couple of points and they get very jittery. We'll have nothing to lose and loads of kudos to win.

now, I'm no fan of VVD, and happy to call him out when at fault, but shouldn't you're 'best' defender mark either the most likely space in front of goal(for zonal), or alternatively the most dangerous player most likely to score (in This case, probably Isak)? rather than a lump who has never scored a goal for his club, and whose positioned on the 18yd box?
 
Im hoping they have won the title by the time we turn up. They will be ponceing about like a bunch of fairies and we give them a right royal roasting.
