Crystal Palace vs. Liverpool match thread

No one nil because Timber let his man run and have a free header form five yards out. If we could defend set pieces they don’t score

So if they are given extra chances then it's our fault?

It wasn't a free kick, we should've been attacking, that's better defence.

Just sitting here in the Main Stand. Taking everything in.

We certainly played better - but Sunderland winning adds increased pressure to get something from this game

In open play we made chances but we simply cannot defend set pieces. They scored form one and should have had another just before the break. Net result even though they’ve not played well they are winning and will almost certainly score again. We are bottom of the table.

This season seems to be cursed. Even when we finally put in a halfway decent performance, luck isn't on our side—shots hitting the woodwork, narrow offsides, worldie of the opponent's keeper. Looks like it doesn't matter who we play (Fulham apart) , how we play, results are always the same.

Hate to say it but VAR was correct with ruling out Larsen's goal. Larsen was ruled offside by lino and VAR showed he was, it wasn't clear of who got the last touch between Kamada and the Scouser. So the officials did not make a clear an obvious error.

Even so it grates.

Well played Palace best 45 minutes this season.

Please do not concede in the first 5 minutes if the second half.

It was a soft free kick but once it is given our job is to defend. If Timber just runs with him then he doesn’t score. It’s not difficult and I am sure the players would say the same. If you lose concentration because you are upset at a decision that is just unprofessional.

It’s not like the ref gave them a dodgy penalty where it is then out of our hands.

We're the better team, we've had the best chances, and were it not for Alisson and sh*t refereeing, we'd be going in level with our heads up. The defence looks less nervous, the midfield is finding its passes, and JSL is holding the ball up. We probably could have defended their goal better, but FFS if you're complaining after that performance, then you're just desperate for a moan.

As a side note, how long did VAR look at that studs up challenge on Mitchell? Was it one or two seconds before deciding that they couldn't consider sending off a Liverpool player?
