And had the grace not to succeed at Leeds or Brighton.
Interesting point.
To my mind one of the greatest managers in my lifetime, able to turn water into wine or average players into teams of world beaters.
And yet he too had his failures proving there are no guarantees in football .
How many managers have Spurs and Man United tried in recent years from big names, so called top managers through to the best new things?
I suppose eventually they will get it right or be lucky.
Overall Parish has done very well in his selection of managers if you look at our progression over the period he has been at the helm.

I was in conversation with a long-time supporter who expressed a degree of concern apropos the appointment of Sage.
In his view it is a significant gamble, given that Sage's managerial experience is far from extensive and he has been lauded in the wake of a solitary successful season in a League somewhat less challenging than the PL.
He stated that when Glasner was appointed he had been a manager for some 10 years, he propelled Wolfsburg to 4th in the Bundesliga and steered Eintracht Frankfurt to European cup success.
This supporter had a preference for Sean Dyche whom he opined was a 'Safe pair of hands' with extensive PL experience and would have been a good 'Fit' at our club.
I guess the board cant win. Appoint a 'safe pair of hands' such as Roy who has forgotten more about football that Dyche has learned and everyone is complaining they are being bored to death. Appoint a forward thinking tactitician who is willing to take chances and many of those same complainants are moaning that this is an unnecessary risk.
For me personally, Glasner has shown us that success might be difficult at Palace but it is NOT impossible.
Dare to dream and he who dares wins, thats what I say. Good luck Pierre, We're right behind you!

his lack of European top flight experience is a concern, especially as he is no spring chicken at 47.

However, getting Lens to 2nd in France is very impressive, more so than the cup success IMHO.

He also got a tune out of Edouard, which is perhaps even more impressive.

Every managerial appointment is a risk - let's give him time and see how things are at Christmas. I'm expecting us to potentially have a slow start to the season - new manager, players returning late from the world cup, maybe one or two key players leaving etc.
I'd say for his age as a cup winning manager he's barely hatched!

Could be about time to refresh the poll. Just feels like everything is unraveling for Pierre.

Is he to blame for poor transfers, no.
Is he to blame for the off the field issues which made a stink in the summer, no
Is he responsible for the system and tactics which has led to us losing 6 out of 9 Premier League games combined with having the worst goal difference in the league, yes.

The new manager is surely a choice of 3.

Thomas Frank - Parish will like his success at Brentford working on a small budget.

Dyche - no one can not see the state of our defence and he's a clear candidate to sort it out.

McKenna - if the worst is to happen then he's a manager that's twice proven he can guide a club back into the Premier League.

I think Parish will favour Frank but he may not be interested in which case we'll go with Dyche.

All in all, what a mess we've got ourselves into... The decision makers need to take a long hard look at themselves. Still don't know how Hobbs has got this gig and I don't think I'll ever forgive him for spunking 80m on Johnson and JSL.

Agreed 👍

Glasner will not be at forest much longer, would you have him back ?
1) we couldn’t afford him , Forest paid him. X3 what Palace were

2) he would not go back to the transfer footprint Parish works under

3) like Parish always states - Palace is a stepping stone club ( of which only Roy , Steve K & C , Terry or Neil went back )

Thomas Frank is a proven EPL manager and did a really good job in building a strong team. If we’d have got him in when he left Brentford, I’d of thought we’d pulled off a bit of a master stroke!

But I don’t know why I’m not overly enthused.

The prospect of Dyche isn’t exactly inspiring

However, I think we will go down if we don’t do something about the way we are defending. I think Canvot in particular has been a bit of a liability (in the air especially). But if Sage clearly isn’t doing anything to remedy it - we have no choice.

Survival is everything this season so I think a proven EPL record is key at this stage.

One could argue that having been extremely fortunate to win against Fulham and Forest that we could be adrift already at the bottom of the league. That’s the way I see it. We are actually in an inflated position. Get rid of Sage and Hobbs now. Parish too.
