The word was that he had til today’s game.
I hope what you heard is correct. I really wanted him to succeed, but we can't risk being cut adrift before making a decision. As of now, there is ample opportunity for a turnaround by somebody new. The job may also be somewhat attractive considering we are still in all competitions.

We're that bad at the moment he might as well go sooner rather than later, I don't see what waiting for the intl break achieves.
Yes, he's inherited a weak, bloated and unsettled squad but a good manager makes a team greater than the sum of it's parts and recognises where it's weaknesses are - so far Mr Sage isn't and personally after a quarter of a season I conclude cannot.
This, of course assumes that the board have a plan b but given the ineptitude displayed over the last 18 months or so and the fact that Poundland are in receivership, i'd say we're fooked!

Agree. New manager has a free hit next week and then manage to rally them and get a result or two against hull and Coventry!!

Of course Sage isn't solely culpable.
Our form from January was poor and the European win masked the problems.

He inherited the problems of lack of form, which were then compounded by the sales of Lacroix and Munoz and the unavailability of Sarr and Mateta.
Not a good hand.

However, has he helped himself?
Many of us forecast conceding at the far post today as the warning signs were there in most of the games.
It duly happened, and could have been repeated minute later.
Some will say that's down to the players, but it's also about defensive organisation, and in many respects we look less organised than a Sunday League team.
The buck has to stop with Sage.

I just noticed the change vote tab. Sage has had his 3 games grace and he doesn't even begin to look like he has a solution except more of the same so he has to go. The wrong manager at the right time. Or something like that.

Have a sneaky idea Frank will be appointed and we’ll go back to attrition football and still go down with less than 25 points.

For me it’s on the Board. Didn’t back the last manager and weakened the team even more. We won things because of Glasner and the squad and the Board was happy to dismantle it.

If we go down we get what we deserve. Feel for Sage, dealt a s*** hand by the board.

Glasners first full season we had 6 points after 9 games. That team included Eze, Guehi, Sarr and Lacroix. We are only 5 points below 7th place. We have lost to 1st, 3rd, Everton, Newcastle and with ten men in 2 games. Glass half full.
I do think we will turn the situation around with this squad. Just not with Sage. Think we need to act soon before the rot sets in though.

We've been in worse and similar situations in recent history. This time it just feels worse after our recent success.

Time to go Pierre. I'm usually one to back the manager until the very end but we've been shite all season and the games we've picked up points from, we've been fortunate our opponents were wasteful.

Poor discipline and poor defending will take us down

I think its 50/50 whether Sage will stay. Personally I hope he does, I think he is a good manager in a tough situation and it doesn't help when your forward makes a tackle like that at a time when you need a good result.

If he goes, I wouldn't be surprised and if we end up with Dyche, I would see that as a backward step. Frank could be a good option but I don't think we would see any improvement anytime soon with a new manager..

Last 3 league games:

0 goals scored
9 conceded.
Can't argue with that but does that mean we can't get it right or we need a new manager. I just think we will come good once everyone settles and we know who our best team is..

11 new signings, Sarr and Mateta chucking toys out of the pram and injured, Lacroix being sold, Munoz gone, Henderson injured and Wharton playing like a donkey.

How many managers could get great results under those circumstances? Imagine, we jump the gun and get Dyche, who I like but not for us. We can afford to wait until after the International break to make any rash decisions.
