Tottenham vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Wharton has no influence over the games now. He really needs to sort himself out. I'd actually like to see Hughes replace him. Bring on Eddie (as striker) and Osorio for McNeil and Pino too. If we don't see an improvement after HT I can't see what Sage is actually trying to accomplish. I know we're down to ten men but we should still be trying to have an effect on the game.

It is purely coincidental that two teams playing with 3 centre backs and 2 wing backs in a now past it tactical system are both in the relegation zone. Added to which and both teams have inflexible managers who can't their approach. A tactical strategy that has had its day.
I looked at the league after Forest’s loss and thought the same thing. Our league form under Glasner was dreadful second half of last season and he has carried that on into the Forest job. Mary Knickers will notbe slow in preparing the P45, then we get Sage who does the same but with batshite crazy suicidal wingback attacking.

The only conclusion I can reach is that I’m not sure who is going to be sacked first, but I wouldn’t have either of them to be honest.

Would someone explain to me what you would do differently with 10 men and three available on the bench? Ok our defending at the corner was dreadful with no one picking up Gray at the back post but that aside we’re defending for our lives and look better defensively than earlier in the season.
Sage shouldn’t be judged on this game after the sending off. Interesting that Clinton said he’d not been helped by the transfers. He’s also been unlucky with injuries, had 2 games played with 10 men, his best striker has been sulking then injured, and Wharton has been poor.

Quite the opposite. The manager is responsible and accountable for what happens on the pitch. End of story. If these were one offs fair enough. They aren’t though. The defending from set pieces is an issue every single game. Sorry but Sage just isn’t up to it. The sooner we act on that the better our chances of avoiding relegation and repairing the damage done already.
Sage isn't accountable for Oliver's ridiculous decision to ruin the game. No Mateta in defence, calls for reorganisation, which the players failed to do. We have generally defended far better, but with no out ball, it is continually coming back.

Your talking bollocks . How can he stop it on the pitch for god sake do you have any football knowledge. Its called jumping on the band wagon because it sounds the right thing to say . He didn't tell them not to mark players

Think you may be right. If you cannot marshal the defence in the PL then you will struggle, particularly if you don't have a lot in attack as well. Glasner as a new manager did struggle but he had a very decent attack and a pretty decent defence. Sage unfortunately has neither. As a result this may well not go the same way.

You think it's Wharton's fault and not Sage's? He just got shite?

Another depressing weekend !!

sage needs to make some brave decisions. Consider switching to a 441.

Bring on Lerma…get rid of Canvot…he is bloody hopeless…

I’d actually read it’s quite a damning indictment of Sage, that we now look better down to ten men.

We’re only having to defend what is practically a 40 yard area.

The issue comes when behind 1-0 is the same as 5-0. A loss is a loss.

When it’s 11 against 11 and we are expected to attack, we look like we’ve got more holes than Prince Andrew’s defences.

Most teams have a dedicated defensive coach, we don't. They have set piece coaches we don't
It looks like a structural management problem to me
How can you repeatedly have an unmarked player at the back post
It’s paddy this season. He swaps places with sage in the technical area at every set piece.

Genuine question.

If you think the players are not up to it -

Then Why do we persist with zonal marking? And trying to play out from the back -
