Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle match thread

Parish is the problem !!!
Ollie knew it !!
Very lucky, always rolling the dice
Can’t put his hands in his pockets ( takes money out of the club - gives himself a wage! even though he says he’s a fan!!!)
Even now the new stand won’t get built !! He’s looking for funding !!
He’s a facking wind up
Parish leave now.

We should have been leading at halftime and looked in control. Maybe Thursday caught up with us second half. We stood off them and let them pass through us. Very disappointing. The only plus in this game was McNeil who worked his socks off first half and looked a decent player.
Sage has generally made sensible changes at halftime but whatever he said this time clearly didn’t work.

Don’t you think the fact we can’t defend or attack well might be due to the manager. This squad isn’t great but it isn’t worse than Hull, Ipswich, Sunderland, Fulham or Coventry for example. A competent manager would have more points than Sage and can still keep us up.
This is exactly it. Even the 2 games we won we were very fortunate. I can't see an identity or understand what French David Brent's tactics are.

He wants gone. Post match interview he keeps saying it's my responsibility and my fault. Great, thanks dickhead. The guy's an idiot. Au revoir

Hull, Ipswich, Sunderland, Fulham and Coventry did not sell their 3 best defensive players over the past 9 months.

Sage will be bound by a non disclosure agreement but he'll walk away with ££££££££ and Parish's record with managers is well known. It'll be a desperado to come and work for him with this team. Kerching!

Not got any animosity towards the guy but the problem is clear, we can't defend and yet he doesn't appear to want to change that and solidify it. Which seems mad because when we actually play with a bit of control we can play some nice stuff. A shame he couldn't make it work but all of our horrific defensive stats don't lie.

Sage guilty of not adapting tactics and approach.
The board guilty of not getting high calibre defenders in the summer which could come to really hurt us.

This combined with a loss of atmosphere with no HF it's been a pretty miserable start to the season all round.

It does feel like we've got to the point where I'm just awaiting a notification to pop up saying 'the club would like to thank Sage for his efforts...'

Difficult times.

I've been a strong proponent of Sage being given time to sort things but when I saw the way we set up at the start of the 2nd half, I thought - "what on earth is going on?" All ten outfield players were within 5 yards of the halfway line when the ball was kicked back to Benitez.
Yes :
  • we should have been ahead at half-time
  • Newcastle were uninspiring in that 1st half and seemed to pose little threat
but then at the beginning of the 2nd half their eyes must have lit up at all that open space we offered them.

I might see things differently when I wake up tomorrow, but at the moment, I join those who say it's time for the manager to go. Whether Parish does it before Wednesday will depend on whether or not he has someone lined up. I suspect, though, that Sage will be a dead man walking until the International break.

Parish like him or loathe him doesn't hold the money, it's the Americans who have the cash - why do you think he needed 3 others to take us out of administration in the first place. He's just the front man, questionable decisions without doubt but on the whole it's been a pretty good ride so far, all things I thought I would never experience watching Palace.

That was just a kick off routine, no? Its in fashion again now to pass it back to the goalie for him to boot it up towards a charging mass on one wing, rugby style.

Andy Gray used to do something similar in the early 90s you might recall, except he'd boot it half way up the Arthur!

I can't work out whether we did anything different in the second half in terms of set up, or if Newcastle just finally had a couple of decent attacks.
