What’s our best side for the Forest game

Given the manager's squad update today, I reckon we might line up as follows:

Benitez

Lerma Richards Canvot

Khalaili Wharton Timber Mitchell

Kamada JSL Pino

Sarr might just start i/o Kamada but I suspect he'll be brought on for the last 30 or so.

I don't fancy our chances against a Glasner team who tend to better away than at home.

Me neither. Unless the positives from the Leeds game continue, I can see Forest sitting in a deep block, fending off our ineffective attacks with ease before breaking into the wide open spaces we leave time and again to kill us off.

Yes this does worry me. So far the way we've been playing is absolutely perfect for a Glasner team to slaughter!! But hopefully we continue with the improvement and smarter approach seen against Leeds.

It'll be a nervy game I'd imagine...but one I'd absolutely love to win...so much so if I had to pick a win against Forest or Brighton it'd currently be 100% Forest.

We could try Plan B, which is to bombard them with our sideways passing and then back the other way before we lose it………and forest do what you said 🤣

Really you you you show stealer I already said that bitch will get my nails done so I can scratch your eyes out , be warned 😡😡
Yeah, but I don't think we were talking about the same thing!

Anyway, I'm more than happy to resort to hair pulling followed by running away, so you be warned yourself... 😜

I assume our back 3 will be Canvot, Richards and Ahanor in the absence of Tomiyasu and Disasi, although there is a possibility that Lerma could feature.
From the press conference it sounds as if Sarr may start, in which case it looks like one of Pino, Kamada or Timber will miss out .
Pino looks most likely to me to be the odd one out.

In terms of the game, I’m apprehensive and would take a draw.
We’re still without Henderson, I’m not confident our back 3 can keep a clean sheet, and I don’t feel confident that we can threaten their defence with our attack which still looks lightweight.

That's about the size of it. We lack quality in both boxes.

From the info we have, is this likely to be the team?

Benitez

Khalaili
Mitchell
Richards
Canvot
Honest

Wharton
Timber
Kamada

Sarr
JSL

Missing Henderson, Tomiyasu, Mateta who would probably be first choice but their replacements are not too bad. It’s just a shame we can’t be playing our best side in a settled way. I definitely don’t feel that we have as yet settled into definitive way of playing. There was a certain verve from the Glasner side when we were buzzing. Haven’t seen anything like that yet from Sage albeit without Eze and Olise. Just shows the importance of finding diamonds.

I don’t think anyone, including Sage knows what our best team is yet, we’re still a work in progress thanks to the poor pre-season and now the extended international break

Our attacks aren't ineffective this season though...
Our forwards have scored one goal in five league games so far. We've failed to score in three of those five games.

To be fair, I was thinking that we would struggle to score against a deep, compact forest team rather than generally, although I think the point probably stands either way at the moment.

In horse racing analogy, our point that could have been more against Leeds looks even better now after their narrow loss to Arsenal.

I think we knew before the Leeds game that they’re no mugs this season, so it was definitely a good point that deserved better

Thats the side he should play.

Regularly dropping Kamada back into midfield against Leeds worked and made as look much more solid. The wing backs played more like fullbacks which in turn meant the three centre backs were closer together and not getting pulled into wide areas.

Although you’d expect that to mean we were less effective in attack the opposite was true as we transitioned much better. Wharton also had time to play as Timber and Kamada did more of the running around closing gaps.

Hopefully that all continues as it was night and day compared to the absolute defensive s**t show of the first four games.

are they the only players allowed to score?

We've scored 13 goals in 7 games.

You're including cup games against poor opponents. We've scored six goals in five league games or, to be more accurate, five in five because one was an own goal. Again, we've failed to score in three out of five league games. If that's the attacking side of the team firing on all cylinders then what on earth will we do when it isn't?

All but one league goal so far has come from a wingback. In one way that suggests a more attacking mindset, but it also suggests that even in a more attacking system the forwards we have used are still not scoring, despite a more aggressive approach.

Our games have mostly been more open than they would be under Glasner or Roy, but that's not the same as being more of a goal threat. We could have parked the bus and played on the break and scored as many or more. I'm not suggesting we should, but I don't get the idea we are now somehow more likely to score.
