If the death sentence is on the agenda women will be subject to the same treatment as men for the same crimes if there are no mitigating circumstances.
It's a very divisive subject and difficult to look at dispassionately but overall executions in America are disproportionately of poor people.

That's right because she tortured her school friend to death and kept her skull as a souvenir.

But yes I agree there does need to be more safeguards in place for the vulnerable.

The US is held to unique global standards that no other country in history has ever been held to.

Every other nation is judged by their individual standard but the US has to some how align with every other nations view of what standards are or it is magically failing some purity test.

In all fairness that is partly a consequence of US international dominance and it's branding of itself as the Home of the Free and protector of Western values.

I am not commenting on whether the US has succeeded in that role. But if you hold yourself out as being the toughest and fairest in the yard, you should not be alarmed if others seek to hold you to that claim

That the Canadian health system is more effective at murdering people then the US is at the death penalty system is kind of funny to me.

Back on executions, a firing squad streamed to whoever wants to watch.

Pete Hegseth is behind this so, by definition, it must be wrong.

I am against the death penalty per se so I am not well placed to provide impartial comment. I am prepared to put my differences aside for this particular fecker as I see it as the MPs shooting him dead on the spot, only now as opposed to then.

However, by way of someone who has the right to comment, a guy who was shot 7 times including in the head but survived says he has no care what form of execution is adopted, but he does not agree with the public screening.

That's unarguable, surely?
