My objection isn't to the standard of programmes because I don't watch them but rather that I have to pay the BBC in order to do so.

Finance is a sensible debate.

The problem I have is that many who want to end the Corporation do so on sometimes questionable issues of BBC ideology.

I do not question its largely liberal/left bias; but people aggressively conflate this with the statute-imposed DEI element - present, by the way, on every streaming service; and (like Mary Whitehouse in the near past) many people violently object to content without actually watching said content.

I listen to the Today program. Interviewers (politely and respectfully) eviscerate all political interviewees regardless of their leaning. Reform, Restore and the Greens are just easier to knock down as they constantly present targets with little help from anyone.
