Lucky not to be sent off for the tackle on Havertz. High and dangerous, didn’t actually make much contact but caused the fall which injured Havertz’s knee. He is combative and I like that a lot but this was borderline.

Timber averages 7 yellow cards a season over the previous 3 campaigns.During this period he has not collected a red.
Hardly in the "No stranger to a card" territory.

At least if you’re going to do it, make sure it’s an arrogant German t*** like havertz
Or next time we play Brighton, make sure it’s Dunk🤣

We need a ferocious tackler in our midfield. Interesting that he had no sendings off, I would take 7 yellows per season for him. Anyone know how many cards he has so far for us if any?
 
Personally, I think he is exactly what we needed. He does not let opponents have any thinking time on the ball - and is a real box to box player. An upgrade on Hughes.

Totally, in the mould of ferocious tacklers like Keane, Nicholas and Souness, always just a bit dirty. We need someone like this to frighten the opposition. Having Peter Nicholas in the side allowed Jerry Murphy to pull the strings. As Keane protected Beckham. Hopefully, the same with Timber and Wharton.

I loved the Nicholas/Murphy combination. It worked so well for us.
 
we all love Yellow Willo. Controlled aggression being a good thing.

The ability to not get sent-off , while playing hard, its a great asset to any team.

There is a fine line between an asset like Roy Keane/Sergio Ramos......and a liability like Joey Barton/Samir Nasri.
 
Only one red card with that playing style is remarkable. I notice he wasn’t substituted so he must have been ok although one source said he will have a scan and maybe return home.

This will make some of the faint hearted on here shudder!

Their view is that the day of the competitive tackler in midfield is over and that the contemporary midfielder’s role is far more sophisticated, checking runs, blocking channels, intercepting etc with little or no physical contact.
Their view is that if you can’t see this, you don’t understand this evolvement of the game and are ignorant of the nuances and subtleties.

All well and good, and fine in 5 a side game, but you have to win physical duels too and Timber does give us a new dimension in this regard.
 
I used to love seeing Peter Nicholas crunch into tackles and I believe it’s a very important role in a team. It sends a clear message to the opposition.
 
A combative midfielder with a good engine - exactly what we needed. I believe he was 2nd if not 3rd choice for our recruitment team? A real asset albeit our manager will have to be careful not to upset him on the training ground.
