This is why Richards has been poor until the Leeds game, he was way out of his comfort zone in the previous games, pressing further up and covering for the absent Khalaili. Against Leeds he was far more comfortable, in his usual role sitting deeper, blocking and not having to worry about the space behind, of which he doesn't have the pace to recover. He's fairly solid when it comes to the latter method, whether Sage thinks Richards can play a higher line remains to be seen, but I have strong doubts.

Agreed and in due course, assuming Sage stays, I can see Richards losing his 1st team starting spot to one of the other CB options.

But Kamada and Pino, when both at their best, aren’t comparable imo. Pino has a much higher ceiling and delivers impact - killer passes, assists, goals and free kick threat. Kamada, while solid positionally as you say and keeps things ticking well, will never have that impact. Pino has been coming on well and looks a class above - we simply must keep playing him.

Kamada has been involved in the buildup for 5 of our 6 goals this season. As many as he has been in either of the previous two seasons. If Sarr cements his place again, he will be a good rotation player for either Pino or a midfielder
 
I was at the game on Sunday and am posting this having not caught up with any of this thread.

My main observations are that whilst a point is reasonable, Leeds were there for the taking and we failed to do that. They were nowhere near the levels they performed at in their match on Monday versus NUFC.

We scored a well worked goal that was needlessly offside and could’ve scored more.

Timber was excellent and the defence looked more compact and settled.

Nketiah is a waste of space! He now looks overweight and not match fit. When he came on he did zero sprinting or closing down and looked as though he was protecting his hamstring. When put clean through he lacked the pace to stay ahead of the pursuing defender and turned inside and wasted the chance. Bearing in mind he had just come on he couldn’t outpace defenders who had been on the pitch for 85 minutes. Not good enough, a huge waste of money and how long before he’s injured again?!

Thats what the commentators said. Didn't seam to be much appreciation that it might have been that we stopped them playing how they did last time.

We did really well at stopping the supply line to DCL. They were barely able to get any crosses in, and most of their attack came from long throws, which we dealt with admirably. They had more time to rest and prepare than us, so I think it was down to Sage's tactics and the team rather than Leeds being off their game. Another factor might be that for most of the game, both teams played a similar formation, and maybe we just have better players.

I disagree with that but time will tell. You cant judge a player who has been with us a year or less any more than you can compare a new player with the one he replaced until his time with the club is also over.
 
Johnson was 100% a dud, sorry.
SL really looks like a donkey leading the line. I don’t see that changing.
Nketiah is not worth £30 million, sorry. Electing not to shoot against Leeds when put through was criminal.

Johnson may have come good. We'll never know. Palace saw a way out of that deal and understandably jumped at it.
Nketiah made an unselfish decision at Leeds. It turned out to be the wrong one. Had Sarr scored we'd all be saying what a team player he is so thats frankly pathetic if thats the biggest put down of EN you can come up with.
Finally, if you think JSL is a donkey you clearly know nothing about footballers and strikers in particular. They need time to settle, they need time to work out how the manager wants them to play but most importantly they need to get used to their feeders. They need to know who they are playing with and what kind of balls will be fed into them. Up till very recently all the attacking creators around Strand-Larson have been changing making life even more difficult.
Finally, Strikers like no other position are confidence players. If he scores one goal he is far more likely to score in the next one. And so on. His confidence is growing game by game. I'd expect JSL to do well this season with a settled midfield around him.
Next you'll be saying Mateta is World class!
 
I highly doubt you know more about football than me. And I have been watching for a very long time. I was there when we beat Burnley as the team of the 80’s and since. Being aggressive when you reply qualifies you as a keyboard warrior. Well done. Go have some more Weetabix. People have opinions in football and I suggest that you share your opinions rather than declaring I don’t know anything about football. This is a fan forum. It’s for fans who support Palace and we are all entitled to respectfully post our opinions without being harassed.

I'm not going to bite and start showing my war wounds but I'd imagine I could go a fair way back in time supporting Palace myself. Not that that would matter to us true supporters. You were there when we beat Burnley? So were 52,000 others. Whats your point?

He does resemble Bambi on ice at times, but at least we are getting some return for our money, he’s scored 8 goals since we signed him and has proved given a chance in front of goal or a decent cross and he can score goals, I said in the summer he’ll score 15 or more goals for us this season and I’m sticking to it
