Ah! Of course. I should have thought of that. Thanks. In any event he's managed more tackles than anyone else this season but probably because we've had to do so much defending and in the main (Leeds game excepted) haven't exactly covered ourselves in glory doing so.
All makes sense. If we can be more solid defensively hopefully he will be under less pressure and we see more of him going forward
Mateta is the past. JSL is the future.
Or Wrexham (before they started doing it up) or Grimsby, Crewe or Southend. All midweek fixtures, all in the grip of winter and throwing it down.
Getting back in the car for a long drive home questioning my own sanity. Then before I've reached home start mentally planning the next trip! 🤣
I would 100% have Kalaili with his youth, potential and already showing great threat and pace than have Daniel back

The wingbacks became more like fullbacks yesterday. The gaping chasms between the back 3 and the fullbacks evident against Ipswich were much reduced and when they went after an attacking winger, 2 of them went to close down the cross and the short pass. Leeds lethal crossing from last season was heavily curtailed as a result.
Add to this the high energy rate of both Wharton and Timber and Kamada slipping back 10 yards or so into midfield when needed we looked far more solid.
That performance for me looked far more cohesive than our previous games and a better balance between defence and attack. It’s one of the best 0-0 games I’ve seen in a while.

I concur with these sentiments.
I didn't think he was great yesterday and gave the ball away cheaply a few times, the one on the 93rd minute that gifted Leeds a late free kick was very frustrating.
However, Khalaili is a great prospect and was highly rated across Europe.

Yes done all of them, Wrexham really was bleak in 1981, freezing cold, foggy, caged in like animals, they were bottom, we were 2nd off bottom, the team of the 80’s bubble had well and truly burst. We hadn’t won for 18 months away from home so when Steve Lovell popped up with a late winner all 100 of us went berserk 🤣

Yeah this is why I think the earlier comment about Timber’s aggression and tackling sort of misses the point with Kamada. He’s frequently putting himself in positions where he is intercepting or blocking passes rather than flying into tackles.
That’s not to say one method of defending is better than the other, just that both are important and Kamada contributes an awful lot off the ball.
Bloody Hell your memory is better than mine! I tend to get some games mixed up there were so many that were a long way from home in appalling weather so many of them felt the same.
I think my worst one was a dire 1 0 defeat to Dario Grady's Crewe. Piss poor weather, freezing cold, dullest football you'll ever see, absolutely nothing to cheer or get excited about. Then the long journey home.
Khalaili was scouted by serie A teams for his attacking potential rather than his defensive talents.
Serie A teams play a classic back 5 with 3 solid CBs and the wing backs play much more like wingers.
We don't have 3 solid CBs so he's going to have to develop his defensive abilities or we're going to have to acquire/develop a more solid back 3.

On Thursday night, Richards and to some extent Ahanor would shoot out to the midfield area and beyond, chasing the ball and looking totally lost. This would leave the remaining two CBs exposed with a huge amount of space between them, then together with the wingbacks pushing forward, felt we could be quite vulnerable. We got away with this on Thursday night but felt we will be punished against a prem side. Although, I watched yesterday’s game on TV and you can’t always see the running off the ball, the CB’s seemed very disciplined and were supported by the wingbacks. Three weeks for them to work on it further, can only be a positive thing.
