I'm not sure he's elevated himself. He tried, was knocked back so took a job for a worse club on silly money.

Silly money is an achievement in itself though - as fans we probably don't want to acknowledge it, but to become one of the highest paid managers in the world is no small feat.

Who knows what the factors were for Milan, but I think it's incredibly hard to argue that Amorim is a better manager based on their careers to date.

Glasner is still young enough to land a bigger job when Marinakis invariably gets sick of him.

I am in 'Lockstep' with the general thrust of these sentiments.
'Magna cum laude' for the unprecedented success he achieved at our club.
He is worthy of a 'warm' reception and a hearty welcome when he returns to Selhurst Park.

I am in “Lockstep” with the sentiments aired last season regarding Mr Marinakis after his behaviour. I hope that he gets his personal karma. If that means Forest get relegated and Glasner gets sacked in the process then so be it. I bear no animosity towards Forest and couldn’t care less about our former manager who sold out to the devil after claiming to be a South Londoner.

In the final analysis Glasner did not 'Up Sticks' in mid-contract and depart for 'Pastures New'.
He decided to seek another challenge,fulfilled his contract and delivered a European Trophy in his final match.

I’ve enjoyed watching the games this season far more than under Glasner and Hodgson.

If we can keep working on the press and the intensity / fitness as well as get the defence settled then I think we’ll be ok. Keeping Wharton in January is essential, as is signing the replacement for Lacroix in the centre of the back 3.

I agree and for what its worth I dont see Wharton now leaving till next summer at the earliest. Firstly he himself spoke recently about staying at least another year. Secondly there seems no real appetite to sell him unless to money offered is stupid money. Then there's the usual January window trend. It would need to be a big club that could tempt both Palace and Adam. The giants dont generally like making a big splash mid season unless they feel its urgent.

Whether we need to sign a Lacroix replacement in January is by no means certain IMO. Let's see how our current options pan out during the run up to Christmas. If Tomiyasu can keep fit, our loan, Disasi, shows his West Ham form and with Lerma once again showing he can be a solid CB, we may decide to leave a new CB until next Summer given we also already have Richards and Canvot as well as the other loan Ahanor. That's 6 CBs. We don't need more than that.

In any event, I suspect any money we spend in January may well go on a new striker if Mateta and/or Sarr move on.

Very harsh. He did throw a massive hissy fit, some of which i think we'd all agree was justified.

Did he try and get sacked? I think he said he didn't care if he was sacked i.e. it needed to be said and he was prepared to accept the consequences.

I wasn't always his biggest fan, but when he had a fit 1st XI the football was a good standard and of course ultimately he helped us win some trophies, something we've struggled with over the last 120 years.

When he 'only' signed a 2.5 year contract i was pretty sure at that point he would use the club as a stepping stone - something he is perfectly entitled to do. It's a thank you and we move on.

I have no issue with him getting a massive pay rise, however, the choice of club and in particular the chairman is a strange one. I'm pretty sure he will not see out his contract in full

I think these games before the international break were effectively our our "pre-season", and Sage has done his tinkering with the team, as show by the changes

It feels like we have an early view of our best team/combinations - but there is still a bit of work to do with the back 3 and what he will do with Sarr and Mateta up front - but I for one am very excited to see how the Wharton/Timer partnership develops in central midfield 🤩

For me, the real season starts after this international break, and then signs are looking positive with recent performances

I can't remember Richards having a good game as the CCB for us. Similarly, Lacroix looked poor in his first couple of games as the RCB, and only when he shifted central did his performances climb. I can also vaguely remember Guehi having some stinkers playing centre of the three.

The more I've watched us play with three central defenders, the more convinced I'm becoming that the CCB is really quite a specialist role.
