Leeds vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Respect the point cliche comes around but I was a firm believer that we should have beat Ipswich & today a win again.

We created some opportunities, lots of passes but over doing some , we lost ground with over passing , JSL
& Wharton were not 100% on ball today

Khalaili promises so much but his passing back reminds me of Ty 3 seasons ago

Yet on wards & upwards fight to survive till Jan
Forest is a MUST win no prisoners taken !
 
There’s one game every season where I think we’re going to be alright for another year. Today was that game. Solid at the back and dangerous on the break. Plus we now have plenty of back up for injuries that have hobbled us year after year….The downside of that was getting the money in by selling Lacroix but in time that will be seen as a necessary evil.
 
After watching Leeds steamroller Newcastle last week I was glad that we stood up to their physicality . Defence was a lot more compact and the pressing further up the park protected the back 3 from any quality balls coming in .
Some decent play going forward though we seemed to lack the decision making and cutting edge that could have seen us take all the points . Leeds in the end offered little but huff and puff

All in all though a decent team performance that will stand us in good stead when we resume in the winter
 
Timber, Wharton, Mitchell and Kahlilli (spelling) will keep us up.

I'd also say Sarr but he needs to come back into the fold.

Henderson obviously as well.
 
Because he hasn't been getting much praise lately, I am going for Richard's as MOTM today. He was immense at the back, made many clearances, won his battles and looked sharp. Lerma also did really well stepping into the back four - a bit like in the cup final.

Along with all the general praise, we should remember 9 of out starters played on Thursday. Leeds had a lot more rest and preparation time.

A very pleasing performance and a result I’d have taken before a ball was kicked. Considering we only played on Thursday evening , our stamina held up very well.
Play like that every week and we’ll finish upper mid-table.

He did have a decent game.

Yes, in another post I mentioned this game as a litmus test and they came through very well on what was a tricky away fixture after a Euro game. Sage adjusted the more gung ho nature of his game to fit the occasion and it worked.

Compare him to a proper football player like Ian Wright who learnt as a boy how to look up for that fractuon of a sec and then place it to the side of the keeper. Bang..goal. Chalk & cheese.

I know i have a downer on him but it's so frustrating to see.

It’s amusing to me that some in this thread have claimed JSL can only score when it’s ‘laid on a plate’, as if it’s a bad quality when our other two main strikers inspire zero confidence in front of goal.
 
that’s a great result isn’t it? Not many on here were predicting anything other than a hefty defeat. That’s 360 minutes without conceding a goal what was all the fuss about 🤣
