Whether you’re a so called ‘bedwetter’ or think the club can do little wrong in it’s choices, surely everyone is in agreement that it’s very difficult to win Premier League games when you’re conceding nearly 3 goals per game.

That for me has to be the priority, even if it means a more defensive approach before the international break, after which hopefully we’ll have players to return.

Watching at close quarters today it’s not just a problem of the centre backs:we are not stopping the crosses and we’re not winning duels in key areas leaving the centre backs exposed.

We may have a new set piece coach, but there is little evidence so far.
Wharton, Pino and Kamada were all guilty today of shocking deliveries.
Frankly there’s little excuse for this - the odd one going awry is understandable, but not every single one.

One positive today was the athletic and committed performance of Timber.
I would like to see him in combination with Wharton and Kamada in midfield.
For me Kamada is wasted one of the forward number 10 positions particularly when paired with Pino on the other side.
Neither carry enough threat even if they are both good players.
It leaves our central striker very isolated, even if it’s understood why at the moment with our injuries that we lack options .

How did they fail, Dyche got Burnley to 7th on a shoe string, Howe finished 4th, 7th and 5th in consecutive seasons, Frank kept Brentford comfortable in the top half of the premier league consistently, if that is your idea of failure yo have a strange definition of it, failure is what you saw today

But, they were so good, they all got sacked and nobody else has employed them. Sage was successful in France getting Lens to second and qualifying for the Champions League, but you don't like him.

On the plus side I thought Timber showed he’s going to be a good player for us. Fair play to the lad, he was immense. Ok a few passes not connecting but he’s barely been on the country a week. Excited to see more of him this season.

For context I watched on the TV. Thought we played well and seemed to lose our way following the equaliser where all but Mitchell had stepped out, however it looked as tight Daichi’s at Fulham last weekend.

For all the sage haters the attacking football is far better to watch. Defensively we look woeful although that did look better to a point today.

Lastly sage is having to drag a gassed JSL and replace with Gozo who imo is now 2 years behind Franca which is mind boggling following francas pre season form. Plus deal with being down to 10 for an hour because the loan that we bought in to replace £52 mill outgoing max did his best to break someone’s leg.

Surely sage would have left JSL on had he had anything left even if just for defending set plays.

All of the above sits with our board who I dare say sages mild manner suits because they couldn’t deal with OG’s demanding outspoken approach. Along with want away sarr and JPM again allowing the lack of ambition shown by the board!

Love this club but the change is needed upstairs not in the dugout!

Agreed, pleased with the desire by the players to get something out of the game but our defence is worrying. 7 goals conceded two games is not good

After the success of the past couple of years with our previous manager we were always going to struggle this season.

It's been obvious to me since Glasner announced half way through the season he was going all is not well with the club.

I genuinely feel sorry for Sage.

Bedwetting? not really. Being realistic and seeing the red flags most certainly. Being realistic means accepting that a new manager with a disparate set of players, many new to each other and the country, with different languages, has a very large task in front of him to assign some level of order and coherent play and to demonstrate he is on the right track and things will take a turn for the better.
Of course the club doesn't exist in a vacuum and therefore time is of the essence, as before you know it the club will be fighting relegation because basic tactics and player selection is awry. This is not to say Sage is not up to the task, this remains to be seen, but to acknowledge that at present the task is very large, given what we have witnessed thus far.

Time is of the essence. More of this shambolic rubbish and time will run out for Sage, and though he might not be totally to blame, he'll be the one to carry the can, it's just the way it is.

The Club needs to stop paying them then i.e breach of contract. Take legal action if necessary. That any other supposed TOP Club would choose to BUY either of these two when they REFUSE to do their talking 'on the pitch' and adopt UNPROFESSIONAL approach to TEAM play and hard-working fans who pay their salaries...

It all filters into the team's heads.

I agreed with you about OG. I don’t think sage is a one trick pony like OG. Today showed after diasi went he would have took a point. We have Europe Thursday so his changes 2nd half had that in mind. Ideally a point today would have been good after diasi went.
I’m giving him the next 8 games to make my mind up.

If we give him 8 games defending like that it may well be too late. We need to look at West Ham last year. They had a similar shambolic start after terrible transfer business like us. Despite that if they had changed manager earlier they would still be in the Preimer League.

If we’d have lost the games we have 1-0 I’d be saying give Sage more time but conceding goals the way we have and the total lack of defensive control, a squad beset by discipline problems and chucking players under the bus at drop of a hat all points to a manager not in control. Leave this much longer and it will be too much for the next manager

There is no doubt that Sage has inherited a difficult situation, with most of the key players involved in our recent success either gone or, for whatever reason, disaffected. I am as bad as the next fan for being ecstatic when we win and full of doom and gloom when we lose.

But there are a couple of things about Sage which are making me uneasy, beyond the lack of progress in shoring us up defensively. My view is that for us to punch above our weight we need great squad spirit, and ideally a consistent team. At the moment Sage, presumably in the interests of establishing his authority, appears to be engaged in a disciplinary battle with his players. We have already had public criticism of McNeill and Guessand, whilst Mateta and Sarr have already made it clear that they don't want to be here. Today Canvot disappeared not only from the team, but from the matchday squad entirely, having been almost an ever-present since Guehi's departure. Whilst Osorio is new, where was he today ? Again gone entirely from the matchday squad, whilst the very unready / immature Gozo was included. Are Canvot and Osorio the latest recipients of Sage's discipline ?

I looked at the bench today and it was unncessarily shorn of players who could possibly make a difference in an attacking sense. Presumably Nketiah is injured along with Mateta, and Sarr's feelings are still smarting, but surely we can't then afford to leave Guessand and Osorio out of the matchday squad. Disciplinary issues or inconsistency, or both, I don't know, but for a squad with lots of new arrivals I get no sense at all of building spirit. Team consistency may take a little longer. But I fear that there are already too many players in the squad who are bubbling with resentment, and I am thinking the ingredients of great spirit and team consistency are already looking extremely unlikely for Sage's Palace. I hope I am proven wrong.
