Israel v Hamas

But I didn't think you had a problem with religious genocides in occupied territories?

I thought you would have liked the Mughals.

You often think wrong

Does anyone at all defend the behaviour of settlers using aggression and violence, often to the point of murder, and seeing the Israeli government failing to respond?

If not, then what else should be done to change that government's behaviour?

Our government, along with like-minded allies, are making their objections very forcibly. Not just to Netanyahu and his government but also to those in the USA who they depend on.

Someone has to. It's disgraceful behaviour.

Fair questions which remain unanswered while they frantically call everyone an antisemite and flap about historical technicalities that don’t really matter.

It’s fascinating how people who complain that accusations of racism have become a cheap and lazy way of shutting down criticism of immigration can be so remarkably quick to use accusations of antisemitism in exactly the same way when faced with criticism of Israel.

Similarly, it's fascinating how people who routinely accuse people of being traitors are suddenly cheering on Israeli attacks on UK infrastructure and Israeli support for Argentina in the Falklands.

State, Mandate, Territory - whatever, it's just semantics.

To suggest it doesn't exist and hasn't existed for 1,500 years+ is just plain lying.
The sort of behaviour to be expected of Epstein Island visitors, but you people should really know better.

The fact that their Palestinian identity has survived centuries of occupation from Romans, Byzantums, Ottomans and British is a tribute to how strongly resilient that national identity is, and how rooted it is.
Only psychopaths would say they should be punished and belittled for the aggressions of others.

The Middle East is complicated, but you’re right, this issue is not. The current Israeli government is turning the West Bank into Gaza. A place where the non-Jewish civilians are treated like second class citizens (at best) and, more importantly given no hope.

The lack of hope is what causes the resentment, which ultimately leads to radicalism and violence. We learned that lesson in Ireland. So, you either crush the people (Tibet), or you can work to give them hope.

Ask yourself, what would you do as a 18 year old who is stuck in a country where you have no job, no prospects of advancement and see some of your fellow citizens being bullied, or killed, by settlers taking their land. Your moral compass would view this as unjust. Over time you probably join other like-minded people, then start to become radicalized.

There will always be radicals, you can’t stop some, but the general population doesn’t need to be made into them.

I salute the UK government for taking this step. BTW, I am typically “right wing”, support Ukraine, smaller government, etc. This issue is a moral issue that transcends politics.

You don't read....

I don't agree with it either, but I also don't agree with this response as a good thing for anyone, especially us

As for historical technicalities don't matter, good God, what an absurd thing to say. Genocidal language

Understanding WHY people do things isn't the same thing as cheering them on, is it.

How disingenuous. You make me want to just ditch what I actually think and am willing to debate in favour of just trolling you. It'll be easy and fun.

Wait. You are suggesting that these Arabs Muslims were already there before Islam existed and before Christianity? That's long before you've even considered that they actually have arrived from all over the Arab world, from different parts, hence they aren't a people, or country, or state or ethnic group or unique religion.

Lol

Learn to read and comprehend properly. Where did I say anything about their religion?

The Palestinian people were there in the 6th century. You realise, of course, that that is before the Anglo-Saxons were in England? Presumably, by your logic, the Anglo-Saxons are invaders and the Irish, Welsh and Scottish would be justified in ethnically cleansing England?
That's how mental your argument is.

I understand that you struggle with notions of 'right and wrong', 'morality' and 'ethics'.
The things most of us had mastered by the end of nursery school.

I also understand that you are a traitor who supports Israel ahead of the UK, and even supports them selling Argentina arms that killed our boys.

Hatred of Jews often hides behind "just criticising Israel".
Only if that person's views extend beyond criticizing Israel.

Miliband summed it up well this morning.

Criticizing all Jews for the conduct of the Israeli government is antisemitic.

However, by the same rationale, labeling someone as antisemitic only because they criticize the Israeli government is one of the recognized symptoms of brain death.

Tricky area.

Jewish by birth and culture?

Worth looking into. His parents were Holocaust survivors although he says they were not religious.
A few top hits in Google search have the quotes from him saying he's a "Jewish atheist".

I guess he is Jewish when he wants to be. Like other politicians religious only when it suits them.

Hatred of Jews often hides behind "just criticising Israel".

Isn't that just a way of stopping people from criticising a foreign state.

Why should I give a feck about Israel?.....Israel doesn't give a feck about us and that includes British Jews who fought in the Falklands war.....At least one Jewish British soldier was killed: Private Jason Burt (3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment), from Hackney. He was 17, one of Britain’s youngest fatalities.

Sure I prefer the Jews to the Muslims as a generalism, because they are far more European both genetically and culturally. But the cold hard reality is that both of these groups put themselves first and on a human nature level I have no issue with that..

But that also applies to us.

So I say, start taking your own side.....So only side with those whose loyalty is to us.

Because everyone else is a slight away from betrayal.

This Labour government, with its student level activism as foreign policy will go.....but working to take the Falklands from us would be permanent or mean potentially taking it back costs us billions and many lives.

At the very least the berk Miliband will cost us huge amounts of money defending oil extraction around the Falklands......All so he can virtue signal for people who mostly hate us anyway.
