Palace Summer 2026 transfers?

I’m happier with the window this morning now that we have Osorio, Timber, and Chillwell. Looking through various reports a number are suggesting Osorio was a safer option than Fofana and that we may have pulled the plug on the latter because of concerns over his ankle and the “limited “ medical carried out by the Lyon medics. Apparently Dougie had Osorio on his list as a potential replacement for Olise (left footed right winger), and both Liverpool and Arsenal have tried to buy him in the past. He will be an alternative to Sarr and may encourage him to nuckle down if he wants in the team. Alternatively we may sell Sarr to the Turks now we have Osario.
We’ve also replaced and ageing, and possibly past his best, Munoz with a younger option, and Clyne with a slightly less crocked option. We’ve replaced our Mitchell backup with a much better option. In midfield we’ve added a good international box to box midfielder.
It remains to be seen what happens to our back three. We’ve certainly given Sage options although none immediately up to the standard of Lecroix. Ordóñez would have been a good option but his current foot injury meant we didn’t risk it but may return in January if we don’t settle on three from the current batch. Hopefully Sage can choose his preferred three and give them time to gel.
We’re stuck with Mateta and JSL up front but we were never going to be able to afford to replace them. A player for wide left would have been nice as we are still likely to attack more down the right side, but you can’t have everything.
Overall, given our SCR restrictions it’s been a decent enough window but one which was salvaged late in the day, but isn’t that our modus operandi?
Agreed. Lots of clubs though looking to do deals in the injury time equivalent of the tranafer window.

I believe that Devenny joined Stoke for £5m
JRS - move to Charlton didn't happen - now looking at a loan to Turkey or Portugal
Esse - was having a medical at Millwall prior to signing on loan.

Like you I know little about the players brought in. But although there is now a better depth and maybe an increase in the overall quality of the squad, I'm not convinced by the strength of any starting eleven v. what we had last season.

It lacks balance in my opinion.

Bit worried about how Palace has handled these.

Ozoh to Derby for £4m seems light as he's so young. Devenny was previously mentioned at £7m to Boro, then £6m to Celtic and now £5m to Stoke. I can't see any confirmation the deal has gone through either.

As we've sold Imray for a £5m 'package' i would have thought Devenny and Ozoh should be higher fees.

JRS has been poorly managed. I was hoping for a sale this window and we can all move on. It appears a loan is the only option now. Will probably move on a free next summer now, when he will be 24, so no compensation. Should have taken the money last summer.

As Millwall sold their best winger to Brighton getting a ready made replacement like Esse would surely be a no brainer. Again no formal announcement.

Last year the main complaint was the lack of squad depth, well that’s certainly been addressed. Is the first 11 a bit weaker, probably, but it isn’t a first 11 game. If we now pick up injuries then there look like decent options and we can fill a bench without resorting to 3 keepers and 4 youth team players.
Not every signing will be a success, but some should, and for the first time in awhile I’m cautiously optimistic. Been crying out for options and now we have them.
To be honest we’ve made money and added depth to the team, could turn out to be one of the best windows we’ve had.
We definitely have more squad depth but agree not sure the 1st XI is any better. As seen already this season when Sage makes multiple subs it has little positive impact - Guessand in particular has been poor in both sub appearances.

So we have a well paid LB as cover for Mitchell instead of a terrible Sosa. Ok i suppose.

In defence we have used the loan and free markets well on paper so definitely have enough cover. We let Munoz go but at least got a really good replacement in first.

CM we were a little short with the ageing Lerma and Hughes providing questionable back up. I'm told Timber is more of a box to box player so not sure if this will fit into our current formation - let's wait and see.

On the wings the Chilean was a curve ball. I'm told he's technical put not with great pace - so similar to Pino, but left footed, and plays on the right. Is that what we need?

As all 3 deals yesterday were completed after 11pm there is an element of desperation and none of the 3 are definitely starters.

Agree with all of this. Lots of new players but did we get the quality centre backs and physical ball winning midfielder we needed? I’d say not. I really do not understand the Gozo, Osairo and Guessand signings. Three players there who don’t look any better than what we have in Sarr and Pino. Why did we use squad places for a position we were already well stocked in?

Whatever we think of all the signings and whether we’ve got too much cover in one position and not enough in another etc. etc At least SP has learnt from last season, whatever the reasons for not getting players in last summer, Glasner having to flog the same players cost us in the league and our dignity with the Macclesfield debacle. So at least with another Thursday night campaign, at least the size of our squad won’t be an issue, Pierre not knowing his best team for months and quality of the squad might be an issue, but we’ll brush that under the carpet for now😃

The talk from Charlton was a number of last minute issues:

Supposedly a medical issue, although this seems a bit iffy.

Meanwhile in one game Charlton lost 2 centre halves to long term injury the night before they pulled out. Did this have an impact?

JRS apparently changed his agent but the old one still wanted to dip his beak and Charlton wouldn't play ball.

Summary: I think JRS wanted to move to Charlton but they were the ones that pulled out not Palace.

Anyone out on loan

SURELY there are still outgoings to be had?

Dutch window shuts today, Scottish and
Belgian windows shut tomorrow, Turkey on Friday, Portugal the 15th and Saudi in October.
Good round up. Many thanks for this work.

No, thats just the way most transfers are done.

Look at how many other transfers happened late. And also how many fell apart. On that bases the other chairmen and DOF's must be much shItter than ours.

do you work for the club? Serious question.

What ever the club does/doesn't do you are always telling people they don't understand how things work etc.

This forum is for discussion. Did any other club complete 3 deals after 11pm yesterday?

I am not in the know on the inner workings of Palace’s current transfer infrastructure. What I do see is that some other clubs seem to manage to identify their targets, get them in before the season starts and hit the ground running. See Brentford and Sangare as a good example. We never seem to do this in the summer so there is clearly something different going on in the way we approach things.

I also know from people who are very close to professional sport and football in particular that in general it is a lot more amateurish than you might think. Outside of the very top clubs the senior back room management aren’t exactly top talent. Nobody in business goes into it wanting to be CEO of a mid range premier Legaue club

It’s a cracking squad, guys.

Khalali comes straight in to replace Munoz and looks like he’ll he mustard. Younger and has a higher ceiling.

Tomiyasu, Disasi and Mingueza - solid internationals - make up for the loss of Lacroix and add depth

Chilwell is better than Sosa and brings leadership to the dressing room.

Timber comes straight in as a starter alongside Wharton and by the looks of it will add much needed steel to the midfield.

Osario, Gozo look promising and even if one of them fulfills the potential, that’s exciting.

Guessand / McNeill add competition.

I’m bloody happy to be honest.

Why does it matter if they were completed before or after 11pm? Most deals that go to deal sheets are essentially done they are just waiting to finish off the paperwork. We are hardly the only team making signings on deadline day, Brighton made 2, Fulham made at least 3 I believe. Hull made a load of signings yesterday. Sunderland made at least 3 I believe. We made 6 signings before deadline day and 4 on it, with the deal for Honest being essentially done pre-deadline day just taking a while to go through. So really it's 7 deals before deadline day and 3 on it. Hardly the end of the world. It would be silly to waste all your money before deadline day when some deals don't open up until the last minute.

I think you may be surprised by the attacking players of team 3. They will play more first team games than you think/want.

Also, the defence looks a bit iffy! Academy?

I dont, but I do actually know quite a few people who do. I also know a couple of football agents. Not that it really matters.

I also dont really understand how it works, but know that it is a lot more complicated than many give it credit for.

I call out people who slag off the club, or Parish or Hobbs. Who say stuff like, the club has no strategy, or late signing as always, or at least they can say they tried. When they have zero idea about how much or little work is going on. And accuse/insinuate that everyone is incompetent.

We might have signed 3 after 11, but we dont know why that happened so late. Parish hasn't just called Hobbs up at 10pm and asked him to find a couple of new ones.

It doesn't seem there's anyone in the academy even close, albeit rumours of us having signed Taha Majni who I guess could be used.

I guess the club could ask Chilwell to tuck in as a left sided centre back, or we just shift to 4 at the back. In Janury Tomiyasu will be at Asia Cup and we have a lot of games against good sides so if any of Richards/Disasi/Canvot/Ahanor are injured we look incredibly short.
