Agreed and it puts into context how classy Guehi was when (1) he didn't get the January move to Liverpool and (2) he subsequently got the move to Man City. His leaving video interview is well worth a rewatch.

I don’t disagree….. but we are showing all our players that striking is how to get out. And once transfer window closes he’ll soon start playing again. Just like Mateta.

Fully agree. It's why I always think the "they've done so much for the club" line is bollocks when trotted out. Think Zaha tried it. No, you're paid more per week than most people get in a year to run around kicking a ball. You are owed nothing and should be counting your blessings.

I'd agree if this happened in July, but it would take a miracle to replace him at this late stage, and we'd probably either overpay massively for a replacement, or end up with another Johnson. I'd tell him that the club will entertain an offer in January if the conditions are right (ie we're not in a relegation fight and have a replacement lined up). The club is bigger than Sarr, and sometimes you have to put your foot down. We salvaged his career, which was stagnating when we got him, so he owes the club more than acting like a spoiled teenager.
