First half of this window was very good.

2nd half has been complete undermined by 3 players who want out, but also dont have hundreds of offers in for them.

Munoz seemingly only have Forrest interested, i do love what he's done. But kinda does show that he's not the bargin that some make him out to be. Telling Guehi on the pitch is a bit crass.

JP, as far as we know we've not received any offers for him. And now miraculously injured at he pointy end of the window.

Sarr, maybe a Gala bid, maybe a Liverpool bid? Agent being a d1ck. Now he's also injured and deleted all Palace off of his socials.

It must be pretty difficult to prepare for a season when 3 of your best players decide they want off, even though they are under contract. 1 of which are taking you to court.

Agreed. I hate the window. Either scrap it altogether or open it over the summer and close it well before the season starts. It spoils the “enjoyment” of the first few weeks of the season.

I don't like it either but at least it means we can get on with things between windows without the spectre of players leaving from one week to another.
Without being too paranoic it suits the big clubs since their squads are bigger and deeper so can more easily cope with a few injuries.
How does it work internationally? If the window here closes on one day and on another in different countries are we still at risk of losing anyone or can they only buy domestically?

Off topic but according to the media Ollie Watkins wife has been in tears about the move to Saudi.

They have two small children, I can't say I blame her. Life out there will be very different then say a move to Italy or Spain. it's one of the downsides of being a WAG.

I hope she takes her mum / sister / bestie she will need it.

Apart from Sarr possibly leaving for Liverpool for a huge fee,seem to think very little time remains to get deals over the line.

We saw a golden age of identifying serious young talent and signing them, knowing in time they would move on to bigger clubs.

We now seem to be a club where everyone has a price and to hope we can get something in before thebdorr shuts.

We have sold good players and bought badly..

You have to wonder if this is down to external factors, do we need money to pay for the new stand or are there still outstanding loans to be repaid?

It's early days yet but with the squad we have, possibly losing Sarr and being in Europe we might be stretching ourselves a bit thin.

Our current DoF has a very different approach to Dougie. I wonder how much Parish is involved. Under Dougie we identified lesser known talent from the Championship or abroad and provided a stepping stone for them to show their ability in the big league and move on to bigger clubs with us pocketing a nice profit. The model worked and was perfect for a club of our size.
Now we seem to be buying or borrowing more expensive players who aren’t good enough for the top clubs or whose form and value have dipped significantly. We clearly can’t match the bigger clubs and our attempt to do so in January has impacted hugely on this window. I’m hoping that plus the European PSR situation is causing a temporary blip and we will return to our former approach, but I’m not convinced that Mr Hobbs has Dougie’s nose for a good player.

Dougie's strength was to identify a player and then woo him over time e.g. Olise. We seem to be in a knee jerk reaction at the moment.

I've yet to hear of a player that Hobbs has been pursuing for a while.

We've gone from Guehi and Lacroix to -

Disasi on a one year loan a player who Chelsea have been trying to offload for 2 seasons

Ahanor a teenager on a one year deal via an arrangement with Chelsea for one year presumably to develop him from Chelsea

Tomiyasu on a one year deal with an option to extend, presumably if he proves his fitness and contributes

Two, and possibly three of them will not be at Palace next season meaning more instability and more need for change in the centre of defence in a year, which to me is the foundation of the team and critical to get right.

There will be some of you who will say this is shrewd and allows Riad (yet again) to get fit and allows Canvot another year to develop ( oddly while developing a Chelsea player even younger than him).

This smacks to me of the operation of a two bob outfit rather than a professional club that has been in the Premier League for many years.

Yes, I know we've won three trophies and Parish is a great chairman and that I'm a 'bedwetter' and that we will probably stay up.
Nonetheless, I prefer it when we have a settled defensive unit made up of players who will be here for longer than a year.

What we’ve signed this window as transfers is largely lesser known talent as described. How many of us had heard of Gozo or the two new right backs? Ironically what we needed this window was some experience and quality in midfield and centre back. Something we’ve failed to add.

I think more and more the winter signings of Johnson and JSL look like Glasner driven ones. He complained of a lack of experienced players so that’s what we got him at vast expense. It is telling that we’ve shipped out Johnson at the earliest opportunity.

Riad and Richards are both internationals and played at the world cup. We didnt start with Chabolah, Guehi and Lacrouix 2 years ago, we had Anderson, Richards and Guehi until we sold Anderson (which everyone thought was crazy) and Richards got injured and had to panic buy Chabolah as cover. Not much different to this season (we will never replace one of the worlds best CBs in Guehi). We have only played 2 games, both of which I expected to lose even before we sold Lacrouix etc.

We won the Conference League in spite of Glasners shenanigans last season. If we had to waste a chunk of change on JSL to do it at Glasners instruction then so be it. Parish resisted the temptation to sack Glasner, which probably saved paying him £ms compensation (and probably made the bigger clubs wise up to Glasners ego leaving him with the Forest job as a last resort). We got McNiel for Johnson so that error has been reversed albiet for more than hoped. We may sink like a stone but give the team a chance once the window shuts. We are not in DeBoer territory yet. People are so impatient.

Agreed. The next three Legaue games are key. Get some points and things might be ok. Lose those three (especially Ipswich at home) and I won’t be at all surprised to see a new person managing the team, harsh as that is.

Nketiah won’t deliver. If he could he would have had a season somewhere in his career where he’s done the business. He hasn’t.

Pino could come good. He at least has pedigree and some quality. It would help if we played a system that put him in his best position. Gozo is a complete unknown.

Personally I think it would be utter madness to sell one of the few players left in the squad who has shown he can do it at this level.

I totally agree, I think I’m just trying to soften the blow in my head if it does happen
