Palace Summer 2026 transfers?

Devenny to Celtic for £6 million and Bissouma in on a free are the latest rumours.

That would be a good move for Devenny.

I don't believe the Bissouma rumour.
He was a very good player a few years ago but there have been issues around him more recently.
Mind you, we do like a free.....

We need to ensure a large sell on fee for Devenny. Clearly, other teams rate him for now and for the future. Bissouma wouldn't be much of an upgrade on Lerma. Plus massive wages I would think. Now, if we got Timber and Bissouma - that would be ok. But clearly we've decided we're ok up front - which we're clearly not. And ok at the back - which we're not. We need to genuinely take a step back and look at the squad. Who's going to score? Who's going to create goals? Who's going to stop goals?
None of our players or units are really any good at the basics there. We have the odd player who seems available sometimes or wants to leave. We don't really know. We can say with some certainty that defence looks dodgy. We can say with some certainty our midfield doesn't create or score.
Doesn't sound like a sound basis to start a Premier League campaign. Which it would have been nice if the owners had acknowledged that it has already started and we'd actually been ready with no issues.

In the light of this summer's transfer activity ( and not just at Palace) perhaps it's time to do away with long term contracts and employ players on a monthly basis.
That and introduce a rule that clubs have to ask players' agents permission for their clients to play prior to games.
You have to be fair to players.

First half of this window was very good.

2nd half has been complete undermined by 3 players who want out, but also dont have hundreds of offers in for them.

Munoz seemingly only have Forrest interested, i do love what he's done. But kinda does show that he's not the bargin that some make him out to be. Telling Guehi on the pitch is a bit crass.

JP, as far as we know we've not received any offers for him. And now miraculously injured at he pointy end of the window.

Sarr, maybe a Gala bid, maybe a Liverpool bid? Agent being a d1ck. Now he's also injured and deleted all Palace off of his socials.

It must be pretty difficult to prepare for a season when 3 of your best players decide they want off, even though they are under contract. 1 of which are taking you to court.

could be a hallucination but

Palace already have two domestic loans:
  • Evann Guessand from Aston Villa
  • Axel Disasi from Chelsea

Premier League rules allow only two players on loan from English clubs at once. There are two more problems:
  • Palace cannot borrow two players from Chelsea simultaneously.
  • Chelsea cannot buy Ahanor and immediately loan him to another Premier League club in the same transfer window.

We are linked to midfielders and central defenders, but what about some players to put the ball in the net?

In theory, we have three of them in Mateta, SL and Nketiah. I agree that CM is the place we need upgrading most of all - especially if Doucoure is going to take longer than initially thought.

We are loaning him from Atalanta not Chelsea. Chelsea will buy him from Atalanta next season.

It’s a strange one with Chelsea reaching agreement to sign him next summer. Makes sense though if he spends a year with us, gets settled in London and some PL experience. I’m guessing he won’t be our first choice centre back.

We've gone from Guehi and Lacroix to -

Disasi on a one year loan a player who Chelsea have been trying to offload for 2 seasons

Ahanor a teenager on a one year deal via an arrangement with Chelsea for one year presumably to develop him from Chelsea

Tomiyasu on a one year deal with an option to extend, presumably if he proves his fitness and contributes

Two, and possibly three of them will not be at Palace next season meaning more instability and more need for change in the centre of defence in a year, which to me is the foundation of the team and critical to get right.

There will be some of you who will say this is shrewd and allows Riad (yet again) to get fit and allows Canvot another year to develop ( oddly while developing a Chelsea player even younger than him).

This smacks to me of the operation of a two bob outfit rather than a professional club that has been in the Premier League for many years.

Yes, I know we've won three trophies and Parish is a great chairman and that I'm a 'bedwetter' and that we will probably stay up.
Nonetheless, I prefer it when we have a settled defensive unit made up of players who will be here for longer than a year.

BIG DAY AHEAD!!!!!

I know the window shuts tomorrow, but there will be so much going on - it will be interesting to see who stays and who comes in.

After which, Sage has his settled squad to work with

Although I agree with your sentiments, I’m not sure what a settled side looks like anymore. Players tied down to 5 year contracts that they can walk away from ?
I think the game is eating itself.

Can't wait til 2nd September so we can relax before it all comes again in January.
The behaviour of Sarr and Mateta, which is seen right throughout the prem, is just disgusting. If you sign a contract you are bound. Imagine if any of us threw our toys out of the pram and refused to work for our companies! I appreciate they want bigger clubs but a contract is a contract. Does this not mean anything anymore? Clearly not.

Agreed. I hate the window. Either scrap it altogether or open it over the summer and close it well before the season starts. It spoils the “enjoyment” of the first few weeks of the season.
