Is Eric Ten Hag a good manager, he won the F.A Cup?

The fact remains that Glasner brought us unparalleled success leading our team to our first FA Cup win and first European Trophy.
We are not a Man Utd who have lifted the cup 13 times.
Man Utd won the FA Cup under Ten Hag in 2023-24, their first win in the competition in 8 years.

My main takes on Glasner, my opinion, don’t care what anyone else thinks.

1) He did well to win the FA Cup but many will scream for many a year, why wasn’t Henderson sent off.

2) We were lucky to win the conference league. We were garbage through much of the tournament and scraped through in the playoffs. Best performance was probably the final.

3) Our league form for most of last season was terrible. We looked like a team with no alternative if things were going badly. Our manager didn’t really want to be there and neither did a few of our players.

These are hardly prerequisites for a hugely successful side and I have to come to the conclusion that our results exceeded our ability.

I’ve seen us play far better football for a worse return. I won’t miss Glasner at all although I’ll miss perhaps his luck.

I am not doubting for a moment the influence of others in respect of our successes, however the fact remains that Glasner was responsible for the day-to-day, match-to-match management of the team and when a manager's 'Honours' are listed included are cup wins and promotions.Under his management we were successful in the FA Cup and the Europa League and it made an old relic exceedingly happy ! 😍

Had he moved to a club in Europe or one where our rivalry was less acute, this topic would be less toxic.

I, for one, will celebrate that period forever more, whether people think it was down to the manager, the players, the Board or the fans(!), is largely irrelevant, THE CLUB achieved this, and is worthy of celebration (don’t let OG’s move to NF diminish or cloud this period).

I do find it incredulous that there is so much antipathy towards a manager who provided us with unprecedented success which of course gave us all such unbridled joy.
I never thought I would ever see us lift the FA Cup and a European Trophy.Heady days indeed.

A ref and VAR mistake; Haaland chickening out; and a great performance by Henderson, which it is hard to give Glasner a credit for, came together to allow all three trophies.

Steve Coppell went to Brighton and yet we still have fond memories of him. Of course that was in the days before social media trolling, and that 5-0 win in 2002 really helped.

He was an great cup manager, and specifically against better teams in the cup. And I'll never forget those Wembley days.

But completely inflexible. Games in the early rounds of the conference and against low block teams in the league was hard to watch. For that reason I never knew how anyone was linking him to top teams.

His behaviour was also completely out of order. Stropping about transfers, pushing ot get himself sacked. Whilst other mangers in the same position kept frustrations out of the media.

He's also gone straight into forrest moaning about the hole Anderson has left. Which will obviously be true, but he's not backwards in blaming everything else.

This. Great cup manager. Very good when everything is perfectly set up and going well. Utterly inflexible or able to deal with adversity.

Much of the vitriol towards OG started long before he upped sticks. I would say it started when he slagged off, the club management, the players and the fans. He could have gone to Timbuktu and I still wouldn’t have thought much of him.

The fact that he has moved to the mafia backed arch enemies of last season merely adds to his truculency.

Last night Chelsea played Luton, who played a very low block, 5-4-1, Alonso switched his formation from 3-4-2-1 against Fulham, to a 4-2-3-1 against Luton, that is what is called managing for each game, not completely ignoring the opposition and play the same way against Arsenal or Macclesfield, as Forest fans are finding out, they will do better away to Liverpool than they have done at home to Leeds, Twice.

The agg with Forest was caused by their Chairman and their w*** supporters. Our beef was primarily with UEFA and their decision to exclude us from the Europa League.

Most other fan bases would’ve been a bit more reasonable and not rubbed our noses in it as much as they did. It was unnecessary, we won the FA Cup and should’ve been in the rightful subsequent tournament. The nonsense over multi club ownership is just utter bollox because look at every other scenario with the likes of Chelsea/Strasbourg, Forest/Olympiakos, Hearts/Brighton/USG etc.

The fact that Glasner left us and went to Forest (for the money) was obviously up to Glasner but he must’ve known what sort of a reaction that would get from us, in light of the animosity between both clubs.
He still went and I think that speaks volumes for the type of person he is.

The final bit that really smarts is the subsequent law suit by the fat Greek and the timing of it. You cannot tell me that Glasner has not in some way given Mary Knickers a bit more substance for his claim. This really would taint his legacy with us if it turns out to be the case.

Sadly, I think Forest may turn the corner and do quite well under him but I would absolutely love for him to fail and get hammered by us at Selhurst Park in October, culminating in his sacking before he’d even departed the ground.

Winning one trophy maybe lucky, but winning 3 trophies in a year suggests it wasn't just luck.

When listing FA Cup and Conference League winners, there is not a "Very fortunate" after their names !
In the FA Cup we defeated 3 PL teams.
In the Conference League we had to negotiate an arduous route to the final including play-offs and all-in all lifted the trophy after 17 matches travelling the length and breadth of Europe.

1995, Everton.

30 years of the same 5 teams (Spurs obviously didn’t win it). And Arsenal started the clock again this year.
