Riads knee

I disagree, without those injuries I think he would have made a strong team member. Sadly, I think he is now finished at this level which is sad for him and us. We will never know how good he might have become?
I just always felt very uncomfortable with him playing, not so much against the average at best opponents in the conference, but premier league level he just didn’t do it for me, but like you say, I doubt he’s going to be able to prove me wrong now

We all marvelled at Mateta's sudden goalscoring from the barren years. But with Olise and Eze feeding him, he missed a lot more sitters than he scored. It is no surprise that the goals have dried up. He is stopping SL from a regular place in the team, which in my view a striker needs to gain confidence.

Shouldn't this be in a Mateta thread & not one about Riad?

A real shame for all concerned but Lerma can slot in for now.
Why would Lerma slot in when we now have Tomiyasu and Disasi.

If Disasi is ready he will slot into the middle and Richards can go into his preferred position. If they prefer Tomiyasu then it’s a like for like replacement and to be honest, when he came on he looked better than Riad.

If we go to 4 at the back we won’t need anyone else!

Do you think we’ll do that though and if so why given Sage history?
I could see us changing if we got a dynamic midfielder in, or if we're chasing a game perhaps? Take off a defender, put on an attacker - go 4-2-4 possession based, or more direct depending on circumstances. We've a rake of wingers/ 10s/ attacking wide players/ inside forwards/ false nines/ part time strikers - whatever they are.

I think we need something akin to when we signed Cahill. An experienced defender who can lead on the pitch. He took ownership for organising that defence in a way we badly need now.

Not sure there is anyone around who fits the bill though.

Couldn't agree more, I kinda expect Richards to be doing that but I don't see it.

Think most of us are on the same page with this!

We desperately need a ‘leader’ on the pitch. Henderson may be the captain, but is stuck between the posts!

I’m sure the management are aware of this

I don't do X but i got from a mate, Bobby Manzi has said it's an ACL, so, that's the season gone for him.
At this stage with it being I think his third major injury you’ve got to start thinking his career could be done. I can’t see anyone giving him a long term contract given his injury history. He’s not old but he’s spent more time injured than playing in his career so far. Feel sorry for him

If it's only his ACL I think that's a silver lining. It looked like the whole lot had gone.

With the amount of rehab his knees have had in the past 12 months to still blow out, I really don't know where he goes from here. Such a shame.
