Everton Predictions

Predicted teams in the Guardian.
I think there could be one or two changes to the predicted Palace line up.
I think we probably have better players than them, but could be undone on a couple of set pieces.

It's actually going to be brilliant to see how the Everyon fans react to how s*** he is. There's no reason to expect him to have improved dramatically.
Everton buying him is the comedy joke of the year. They must be off their rocker.

I saw an online rumour that his lifestyle is less Spartan and a bit more Elvis 'Rock n Roll'....but of course, who really knows ?

The more I look at that defence and the defensive set up of that team, the more I worry. Time will tell.
No we are only one missing at worst in defence we still have 3 class defenders a up and coming one and lets see , for me as a x defender not worried 👍🏻

Brennan J knows all our defensive players. I predict the fecker will make us really hate him.
It’s Palace. It is already written he will have a blinder, score at least one, assist another and generally look like a world beater against us. He will then settle down to looking like a geriatric donkey for the rest of the season until they visit Selhurst when he will become the embodiment of peak Puskas again.

The saving grace is that at the start of this season we may have an element of surprise. Managers knew how both Hodgson and Glasner set up their teams and that they chose the same players when fit. Vieira was a surprise package and got us to the FA Cup semis. No one knows how Sage wants to play except, hopefully, the players. We may surprise a few teams.

The only PL team we beat in that run was, surprise surprise, Everton

My prediction

Everton 1 - 3 Palace

Johnson x1
McNeil x1, Strand Larsen x1, Sarr x1

Dwight and Brennan are written in the stars to score in this game. First game of the season, coming back against their old clubs after a swap and both with points to prove? It's nailed on. Brennan might not get many more after this game mind.

The most important thing for me is how Sage is going to react in the match, it seems that we are starting 3-4-2-1, but will he switch formations during the match when needed, or use the Glasner method of sticking to the same tactics until hell freezes over, i was pleased when we got McNeil, But i don't think he is a number 10, also i don't think it will be Mateta or Larsen, i think he might surprise us with his CF, if not at the start, during the game.

Everton and Moyes are flourishing together so this isn't a fixture I'd have hoped to take much from at any point; if World Cup inflicted absences and a change of coach mean we must expect a difficult start to the season, at least we're not dropping what should have been easy points. I'd be pleased with a clean sheet despite Lacroix's departure and I think we might achieve it.

1-2.
Everton to score with a header from a set play after 15 minutes, then add a second soon afterwards, as one of theirs nods home from a free header following a bit of a nothing ball slung into the box from a deep, wide position. We will commence frothing at the mouth about how the player could be so free and unmarked in the gap between two of our three central defenders.

In between this, a good move on our part will end up with Mitchell in a dangerous position, but he will produce only an unconvincing cross/shot that is neither one thing or the other.

Everton will then drop off a bit and we will rally. Sarr will nick one back.

We will then have more of the possession but create little.

Come the final whistle Everton will take the points but we will take some consolation from the more positive second half display, and from how early in in Sage's tenure we are.

Other than that, I'm not really sure.
That’s cheating, you just copied and pasted from reports on a load of last seasons games.

On Everton's Grand Old Team forum they are already on Page 27 of their Everton v CPFC match day thread at 1.30pm, an hour-and-a-half before kick-off.
We have not even started one.
I think that says a lot about both sets of fans.
