There isn’t anything the least puzzling about my comment. At least to those with the eyes to actually read it and the brain to comprehend it.
Let me ask you some questions. These are ethical questions which go to the heart of the differences between the anti abortion lobby and those who accept it’s sometimes necessary.
Firstly, do you approve of IVF being available to those who want it?
IVF, as I expect you know, involves the removal of an egg, or eggs, from a woman and for it, or they, to be fertilised in a laboratory. Not all will become fertilised, but some will and they will be single cells, called zygotes. These contain DNA and are biological life. 5 days later, after cell divisions they become embryos. These are then usually frozen, with the best and most viable then implanted into the woman. If she is lucky a few weeks later she announces she is pregnant and is beginning the 9 month journey which ends, hopefully, with the birth of a healthy baby.
If there are “spare” embryos they are kept in frozen storage, for a while at least, in case the implant fails or a second child is contemplated.
However, the “spare” embryos are often not needed and are then destroyed.
Do you approve of this destruction? They are after all “life” and contain human DNA. Implanted into a womb they would have a good chance of becoming babies.
If you do then what is the difference between that and an abortion before the age of viability?
