We learned nothing from this By Election Farage wasn't the first and wont be the last to call one for his personal ambition.

The real shame here is that the opposition refused to put up a viable alternative thus denying the people of Clacton a choice. Count Binface maybe a laugh but I would not want him as my MP.

None of this matters as to the investigation into Farage which will proceed at it's own pace. Claims that he called the By Election to somehow avoid it are nonsense, it has continued and will report at some point.

Parliament returns Sep 1st then is off again Sep 15h to Oct 12th for conference season. I think there will be more rhetoric from Burnham but nothing substantive before the conference. So he will have been PM for 12 weeks and done nothing other than had a holiday.

I expect the Labour conference will be a rough and tumble affair with the left torn between student politics and job preservation
