I am speechless.

Three trophies in the last 16 months and instead of pushing on we are shopping in the bargain basement this transfer window.
We shouldn’t be going anywhere near a 32 year old Br*ghton cast off.

Hobbs needs to Foxtrot Oscar sharpish if this his idea of recruitment!

In order to push on you need the money and it's looking increasingly like we splurged much of what we did have on panic buying in January, which with the benefit of hindsight we didn't need to do.

What money we do have seems to be being kept to buy an experienced CB. Time will tell.

I'm surprised at the positive reactions to this one. We would be a laughing stock with Brighton fans. They rejected him because he's too old for an injury prone at best average player. I really don't rate him but accept that doesn't matter but we have an academy that people are always praising. After all these years there must be one candidate who could be promoted to the first team squad and be better than Solly March.
 
Perhaps the interest in March is along similar lines to Chelsea and England going for Jordan Henderson, basically a bit-part player but good lad around the place?

That might address a bit of a long-running concern of mine. One side effect of buying, developing, and selling players at a profit is that they all start to think in those terms. At the moment its worked fine. All our big player sales have worked hard and succeded for Palace, and done it the right way. Thing is, even the second-teir players like Mateta and Lacoix want to go onwards and upwards. What percent of the squad has that attitude? How many do we have now who don't think that way, who are content to put down roots at Palace and fight for it when things get tough?

Leicester and Southampton have both had talented, saleable assts but gone down with an absolute whimper. It was hard to believe Leicester in particular would have gone down if they still had some of their less-valuable old guard like Morgan instead of valuable but disinterested talent like Maddison and particularly Tielemans and Fofana. They knew they would be moving on to better things no matter what, and it showed and seemed to spread.

Maybe the club are just trying to get a few more settled, stable pros in the building, and that's what they see in the likes of March?

Much to admire in this analysis, if I might say.
This consensus that we are a 'selling club' is depressing. And determinist-it will come to define Crystal Palace F.C. Is Leeds a 'selling club'? What of Forest, Sunderland? Are they? Brighton, which sells lots of players, generally to Chelsea, and for the big bucks that we never quite manage to. Or is it just little old Palace, Fulham, Brentford: you know, the nice, if a bit soft, guys. Can we please sign players who want to play for us and not just regard us as a cross between a shop window and a stepping stone?
