Tony Finnigan turned up just as a mate of Andy Gray when Andy Gray had a trial with Palace, and Finnigan joined in the trial game and was subsequently signed too together with Gray.

Wrexham is exactly the kind of wealthy and ambitious club that would be stupid enough to buy him at a decent price (for us) because he is Welsh and the owners will think thats a big draw for their fans.
By decent price I mean maybe we take a £10m loss on him. At the moment thats a good deal.

It’s a good deal to give him away and get some mug to pay his wages.

Tony Finnigan was a class act from the same background as Andy Gray and Ian Wright. Didn’t make it like the other two. Maybe down to attitude or just unlucky. A mystery from the past…

Finnigan played over 100 games for our club.
Finnigan, Gray and Wright all about the same age in the 60s.

He did indeed. But then played a season at Blackburn and ended up fading away in non league football. It’s always suprised me he didn’t kick on.

I remember that we sold him for £40,000 to Blackburn ( probably would be a £million deal these days).
He became an agent after finishing his playing career.

I once bumped into him in the Main Stand when he was not selected in our match day squad.
I said ‘Hello Tony,’ and he totally ignored me.
Obviously a man of great taste.

Johnson was not in against Famalicao because he had just played in the 1st game v Lens which was a couple of hours beforehand.
