Surely there can't be much to complicate the work permit for a full France international moving from one English top division club to another English top division club?

In fact, surely he already has a valid UK work permit, and given he would be immediately switching to the new "company" without any free agency, his current work permit should be valid?

I think our resident border force expert can confirm but I believe a work permit is linked to a job. Otherwise people would come to the UK as carers and then switch to other jobs which are not covered by the scheme. Thank god that doesn't happen. 😀

Anyway good news I have found the paperwork for Laxcroix's permit application.

1. Can you confirm your identity. Yes
2. Do you have a criminal record. No
3. Will you be a burden to the taxpayer. Err no I am a multi millionaire footballer so a net contributor.

They definitely used to give a certain amount of time if you lost a job to find a replacement to keep your visa.

You asked the question why the transfer fee (which is a slightly strange figure) has been reported as a different value via different media outlets. I have explained how the discrepancy may have arisen.

Of course all UK networks will report in GBP as that is our currency, i'm not sure what your point is.
It is the FX rate movement that may be accounting for say BBC still reporting £52m and Sky sticking with £51m.

To add some logic to my theory before the WC it was reported that Chelsea had bid £47m for Lacroix, or 55m Euro. I did wonder why the Euro figure was even quoted.

But due to the time frame, your explanation doesn't fit. Don't take it as an attack on you, it's not one.

Sky were saying 51 at the time that the exchange rate would make it 52 by your explanation. Now the exchange rate points to 51 presently, but they were already saying 51 prior.

It's a decent theory, but I don't think it is the correct one, as it doesn't quite line up.

ML hopes it is! I do hope he gets the role in the squad his and his representatives' discussions would have focused on. As others have pointed out he is not as error free as Guehi was for us.

He has some competition at Chelsea which could become acute this season given they are only in the domestic competitions and will not have the same volume of games as a result.

Chicken and the egg situation. We will never know if those hypothetical players in Mr Robbo's scenario would also have carried us to the same degree, or higher, than which Zaha did.

Probably not, though... I do remember very clearly just how much we relied on Wilf. It's still quite a recent development that we have anyone at all who is at his level, of course now majority of the squad are above it, it's been a meteoric rise really. I also remember our transfers were a lot more scattergun in those days... yes even compared to Hobbes.

He 100% carried us.

But you could argue that the win the ball and pass it to Wilf tactic might have held us back too. £50m and 3 decent players might have served us better.

We'll never know. It was what it was, and we all love him.

I was surprised to see Townsend that high up... I can only assume he was a bit more dynamic in that regard before he arrived in SE25.

More broadly, I don't think we should ever take for granted that we had the best dribbler of his generation, certainly domestically, playing for us for over a decade. Special times.
