Will Monsieur Sage start him, and if he does how long will Johnson last is he fails to perform?

I had thought it best to play Johnson in the hope he found some sort of form, enough to convince some mug to offer us £15-20m for him. It occurs to me more as I see him play that his value, such as it is, is probably decreasing with every anonymous offering. Might we be better leaving him out so that nobody sees just how poor he is?
If only that were true with us!

Won't be in the squad at this rate.
He's has plenty of shots, the trouble is that 100% of them have either gone over the top of the goal and into Row Z, or completely wide.
The pressure may come from the fee we have laid out on him.
Unless Pierre insists to the club to cut our losses and try to move him on for whatever fee we can recoup.
Judging by our current sale in the works, we'll be lucky to get a multipack of Space Raiders.

I wonder if one of these daft, mega rich middle Eastern clubs would buy Johnson?
A few years ago Chelsea seemed to have overspent on players they didn't want any more but couldn't sell, as they were too well paid. Then Al-Murray or whoever paid top dollar for three or four of them, and suddenly the club had some wriggle room again.

It's worth a try.
A good few years ago Parish described a (then) emerging problem for premier league clubs: Being able to outspend most of the football world is great, but if you buy a player for X and pay him a salary of Y, it becomes incredibly difficult to shift him if you want to. You've immediately made him too expensive for most other clubs in the world.
He was talking about Benteke at the time, it seemed, but it's certainly true of Johnson.
That would be absolutely ideal.
Chelsea had/have connections to the Saudi clubs through PIF and their ownership group, which helped them do it. Although maybe we could give Dougie a call and see if he could set us up...

As I’ve said before he’s not a Sage buy and there is no way the Club can pressure him into playing the bloke. This season is going to be hard enough without playing with 10 men…
They can pressure him into anything they like. "I am your employer, do as I say or you're out on your ear".
Clubs don't like to break their transfer record on an asset and leave their costly asset sitting on the bench, or not even in the matchday squad, without facilitating a further transfer out the door.

If Parish was foolish enough to try that caper Sage would walk.Can’t see it myself.
Parish and Sage will have discussed these kinds of issues prior to signing a contract as manager.
It's very unlikely that Steve would have been fine with neither selling nor playing.

So Sage will just say something along the lines of ‘He’s useless and I’m not risking my reputation on crap players that I haven’t bought. Best you get rid.’ (In a French accent).
the problem we now have with BJ is that along with the excessive transfer fee, is his high wages.
The reports are that is in on over £100k a week.
So even if say a newly promoted team such as Ipswich bid £20m for him his wages would probably be double their top earner.
He has a long contract with us so will not be taking a pay cut anytime soon.
In the short term our only hope is that Sage can get a tune out of him, and/or he could be used as an impact sub as his pace should be an asset in the final 20 minutes of games (as long as he doesn't hide!)

I am not privy to such private and personal information.
Clearly the poor lad is totally bereft of confidence and it is not his or the club's interests that he fails to recover his erstwhile 'Mojo' and remains a bit-part player.
I suspect the 'Status Quo' could well be the catalyst for the wheels of negotiation with other clubs turning, the outcome financially not being in our favour.Time will tell.

Yep, I think thats it. You'd assume that Sarr and Pino will start.
Just hope he can nick a couple of sub goals and rebuild his confidence.
I had a front row seat, literally, at Bromley and a good view of Johnson’s contribution. He had a couple of efforts and was a whisker away from a ‘tap in’ sliding in at the far post. He had little chance to show his pace against a Bromley team that defended with real spirit throughout. He clearly doesn’t rely on tricky dribbling to beat a man.
Shifting him is going to be difficult because of his wages so I think we have to hope Sage can work magic and that the player regains confidence. He clearly isn’t worth what we paid for him at the moment but slagging him off isn’t going to help anyone.
