Was contemplating not watching as I hate the 3rd and 4th place play-off, but what an incredible match. I guess if that had been the final, it would have been a lot more cagey and not 6-4 🙂

i enjoyed it, played in a nice spirit as well which is rare to see these days. I doubt tomorrow's will be as friendly (which this one effectively was, i suppose).

the losing team were all smiles at the end of the game. The winning team didnt celebrate much, barely at all.
The match was like a cross between a Friendly and a Testimonial.

I did in the end, I only watched because of our boys, but how can you not enjoy a game like that?
I think a lot of it summed up our tournament in general, disjointed, all over the place at times, but some great attacking play

Reminded me of that last game of the season against Bournemouth few seasons ago, which ended 5 : 3 seemed like almost every attack ended with a goal,

After seeing the result in my paper this morning I thought I'd watch the highlights.

What a wonderful, flowing, good natured game of football. Every goal scored was a cracker.

Isn't it a pity that most matches played these days, especially those in big competitions, are riddled with nerves and a fear of losing. Last night's game was a great illustration of how trying to win beats trying not to lose.

Reminded me of another high-scoring match - away to Swansea 10 years ago. Benteke put us 4-3 ahead in the closing minutes, only for Swansea to score twice in injury time.

I thought the side looked a lot more balanced, i dont know if it was because they were playing without pressure, but like many i had to wonder why he didnt take Wharton as he clearly would have helped in the second halves of the semi and last night. I know we are biased though.

We did first half, but buckled again second and our defence looked all over the place, but obviously it was a crazy game and I think everyone was passed caring by then
I suppose Wharton not going did us a favour, he wasn’t in the shop window, a good tournament and he would definitely have been gone

Snooze fest. Well that proved me wrong. Two very good sides, playing for not a lot, and it was a highly entertaining game. No simulation or hysteryonics. Relative sportsmanship, alongside competitiveness. You couldn't really gather anything substantial about the side's quality, as it seems they'd both been "let of the leash" by their respective managers.

The England goalie made some good stops, in spite of letting four in. 😀

As for the Final, I just hope that there is no simulation and that VAR isn't needed.

As for the Final, I just hope that there is no simulation and that VAR isn't needed.

That could be a forlorn hope. Suspect the ref will be as lenient as he can for as long as he can which will see Spaniards flying through the air like a trapeze act before one of them gets booked for landing too close to Messi.

A really entertaining game that probably only these two sides could create.
In this form the game is beautiful . Argentina, would never be involved in such a game. And even club football is so competitive it doesn’t allow for the open non stop attacking attitude shown by both teams. Entertaining , but not football as it is if you want to win anything.

Watched the game earlier & agree, it was hugely entertaining. As an aside, virtually same time y/day as the footie, was Argentina v England in the egg-chasing 'Nations League' England won 31-24. The surrounding of the Australian ref by the Argies was appalling, the same as their counterparts in the WC. 4 of them were sin binned for misconduct, they were trying to start fights off the ball as well as all the niggly, sly fouls that their footballers are famous for.

Maybe now Palace are European Champions, we can start attracting these top players back again 😀

It did suddenly dawn on me as I was watching it was a right palace love in, shame JP missed out, funny how everyone says palace are crap, but everyone wants to buy our players
