Glasner to Forest

clearly not.

What crowds do Preston get?

What annual revenue do they generate?

Are they in the Premier league - now or ever?

Yes they won the FA cup about 90 years ago and the league over 100 years ago, but i would say that is almost irrelevant today. Yes Forest have twice won Europe's top honour almost 50 years ago but they have bigger crowds and higher revenue than us, and have done for a number of years.
Preston would get massive crowds and generate big revenue if the got back to the top flight and stayed there. Every bit as much as Forest

They are a 'bigger' club than us.

We are currently a more successful club than they are however.

I'd suggest that's the conflation.

Glasner's trick is to go to club's where any success will be considered an overachievement and expecations are lower. He has that with Forest. With us he would have to sustain success which can only be achieved through winning the Europa League, far from guranteed.

Therefore we no longer fit his modus operandi and Forest do. I don't give a f**k about Forest nor Glasner's career now he has left. He had an amazing impact here but times move on, so I'm only worried about Palace now. Time to give the whole Forest thing a rest, I think the Marianakis period will not be a successful one for them and will end terribly. I'm not envious.
This is very good point. It’s actually clever by the liar to get out while the getting out keeps his stock high. The success glosses over the fact for large parts of last season we were dog s*** bad. And any other occasion (not being in Europe and with a good chance of winning) the Liar would have been sacked for his outburst let alone the dross and losing run we went on. Maracrackers will never put up with a 15 game loss. I can’t wait for it to implode.

i'm not sure using attendances as 'evidence' supports your case.

When Palace finished 3rd in 1991 we regularly got 15k crowds and even in our promotion year in 2013 our average was 17k.

Forest have always had larger attendances than us (since we lost so many in the early 80s) and when they got promoted from the championship their average was 28k. Since they got back up they have managed to slightly increase their capacity to above 30k, hence why their attendances have edged up above 30k.

I agree Forest are not a big club, however, they are slightly bigger than us. Supporter base, ground, annual revenue etc all support this.
One thing for sure there fat arsed chairman is bigger than ours. Fat kebab eating c***.

100% in modern football Palace are a more successful club than Forest and by definition bigger. History is a great thing to look back on but that was a long time ago. Forest were once a giant. Lets get real. Forest have not been a big club since the 1980s regardless how much money they throw around.
In the last 25 years Forest have spent 20 of them in the Championship or even lower. They have won nothing in that time. Neither have they come close.
During the same period Palace have spent 14 seasons (including Jordan's 1 year stint) in the Premiership. We have appeared in 3 FA cup semi finals, 2 finals, we have won the FACup, the Community Shield and the Europa Conference League. We are about to embark on our second year in a row in Europe. We have more international players. We have produced more England players and our academy makes theirs look like the Dog N Duck.
In terms of fanbase they fill their stadium which is bigger. When our Main Stand is complete the stadiums will hold roughly the same. Except we are in London and have a bigger/better catchment area.
I would 100% say we are currently the more successful as well as desirable club. As you quite rightly say, if a club is measured on previous cups won in long ago history Preston, Blackpool, Burnley and even Stoke are giants! this we all know to be rubbish
When?
The most impressive thing about their success from 78 to 80 was that they were just a modest club that beat the big boys. They have never been a 'big club'.

The original point of the comparisons was to outline the desirability for managers, as well as what it means for Glasner's situation.

Basically, he hasn't walked into a large club like he might have expected. A Milan, a Man Utd, a Chelsea, all of which he had been linked with.

We need to let got go about the us v Forest mentality. I was impressed by Glasner from his first interview to the last. I am sure in hindsight he would have handled the Guehi sale and his early announcement of his end of contract differently but as Willo said he saw out his contract and became a free agent to choose where he worked next. Given his track record i find it hard to believe his won't make a positive difference at Forest.
Sage's first interview left me somewhat indifferent on my feelings on how well he will do. I always felt Glasner knew how he wanted to set up his teams and his record speaks for itself. Let's hope Sage can carry on and keep us successful. We certainly currently have a squad capable of doing so.

I understand the comparisons and historically Notts Forest have had more success than us, many teams have, but rather than this big club small club debate, are they a better club than us over the last 10-15 years? No and like you said did Glasner get a top top job...no, hes at best made a sideways move (probably a backwards step) & I'd love to see him fall on his a*se, time will tell!

Why do you think he didnt get a decent job at a "Bigger Club"

He gambled and lost.

Moan United decided to stick with Carrick, AC Milan chose another manager he lost out on the Liverpool job etc.

Football is a dirty profession, I wonder how many clubs contacted him whilst he was at Palace and hinted the job was his, only for him to realise later that they had the same conversations with other managers.

Apparently we tapped up Sarge in December but I bet he wasn't the only one we spoke to.

Anyway I have no sympathy for him that is football, thanks for everything you did for us OG but you have decided to move on and so have we.

The king is dead long live the king.

It doesn't bode well for the new 'king' if you can't even get his name right!!

What a bizarre statement. You could say that about almost every club. Preston has been a championship club for years now - let's deal with the actual and not what could be.

Are we a bigger club than Derby?

They have over the years more silverware than us and have a bigger ground and more support. However, they have been out of the Prem for years so their revenue will be a fraction of ours.
Currently we are a bigger club than Derby, however, if they do get back to the Prem and stay there that could easily change.
Look at Sunderland as a prime example of a team doing well after years of financial struggle.

Can we move on please.
