Main Stand redevelopment thread

There is also the stadium naming rights to consider. These can be worth millions. No organisation worth their salt would want to sponsor our ground. Well maybe the Beddington Sewerage Works or Veolia or similar. With one new stand there is the possibility. Rebuild the Arthur and it becomes a probability.

I am sad that the Beanos record shop has gone, because it was such an iconic part of Croydon that the Beanos Stand at Selhurst Park would have been a thing of glory.

Perhaps in celebration of such a perfect sponsorship, everyone could have received a free New Model Army vinyl at the opening.

I guess we could be stuck with the Coughlans Bakery Stand and a sliced large bloomer/pink meringue combo.

You are thinking small it's not about just local people football is global.

Revenue is not limited to just people on match day. (This outside of tv money is revenue wise important and it doesn't need to just be local fans having space for tourists is a good thing )

Take a look at the worlds biggest clubs they are global brands this attracts not only people who want to attend games but it increases revenue from sponsors also means they get more exposure tv wise.

Merchandise sales do make a difference if you are not only selling it from just your club shop.

This was a long time ago but when Real Madrid signed Beckham people questioned the transfer fee it was high but the club sold that many shirts it covered that fee.
I like your thinking , yes wider interest is the bonus

So our target is to be a major global brand, what's the time frame on that?

I want us to improve and grow the club but we need to be realistic

For example, we are a smaller club than West Ham by any metric other than last two years' success.

I didn't say major brand but in this modern era you need to be a appealing to a global market not doing so is missing out on a large market.

Even SJ knew this back when he failed as our club owner.

SP appears to not want to do this and thinks like a small minded man.

With the owners we have we should be associating with there brands this is a bit like what the multi club ownership is about (Multi sport ownership even better)

You can't grow unless you expand out.

Why are we a smaller club then West Ham? we shouldn't be.

Sorry you are very anti SP time and time again , which division is West ham ,
be more anti and recognise what he has done with club , in real time we are 16 year old , don't belittle achievements because you don't like him , makes you very shallow ,
we all want the world but in reality its a very very big task , we have gone from broke to having money in the bank , have billionaires owners , maybe not spend all there money on us to your liking but they are part of our progress , so show support for board and club , instead of belittling every step

Just a thought and so it will remain, if we want a significantly bigger stadium we need to move, it's as simple as that
Nowhere to move to. According to Parish all options have been exhausted within London and no one reall has an appetite for Gatwick Airport. Least of all Crawley who are there already!

Plus its unrealistic expectations for anyone to believe we should or could challenge the top 6, no one expects that. But compare us to West ham, take prem money away from us and we're no bigger than any other club in the championship and could easily spend years languishing there if we ever get relegated. West ham are far bigger than any championship club and wont spend many seasons out of the top flight, thats where we should aspire to be.

The last 2 seasons have been the best in the clubs history and the perfect time to attract new fans but our stadium has prevented us from doing that.
I dont go along with that. West Ham are not much bigger than Palace and Championship teams such as Birmingham City, Norwich City, even Stoke City would see themselves as just as big as West Ham if they had the same TV income

I agree, I'm not suggesting that the new stand plus a new Arthur will suddenly make us serious challengers to the big 6, but if we want to remain competitive in the PL we have to increase our capacity as much as we realistically can.
Agree, We're going backwards in this division if we dont keep striving to move forwards

That's a tall order where Dead Grumpy's concerned.
