All of the heritage sci fi shows have been ruined by wokery and awful writing. Star Trek another one.

Next up, they will ruin The X Files.

It's just a show that after 60 years has run out of steam. Most shows are lucky to last 7 seasons.

Although only the Christmas show is cancelled I suspect that the show will not be renewed for the time being. The new boss is under major pressure to cut costs. Unlike the news, which the BBC has a duty to broadcast, regardless of viewing figures, Doctor Who is just entertainment so costs versus viewing figures is a valid issue.

But or some reason I don't get the BBS think this is all about Trump and MAGA and Bambi has just been shot. It's nonsense of course Disney cancelled their participation for commercial reasons nothing else. The BBC will do the same.

Other can moan on about Woke or anti Woke for me this was just a commercial decision.

I disagree. It was cancelled because it was woke and awful. Casting minorities and dealing with social issues became more important than the plots and the stories became increasingly dumbed down and infantile. Consequently, the viewing figures bombed.

You wanted family science fiction and you got Russel T. Davis' gay, virtue signalling wet dreams.

It is an appalling exercise in woke, but that has nowt to do with its cancellation.

Disney rode into town; the production budget doubled; the quality of the show (somehow) tanked; the streaming figures even more; Disney rode out of town; money gone, show cancelled.

Cannot offend Israel just like the politicians, or we'll all get sent to jail.

I could not imagine switching off the news, but I had a revelation, and did, it's been tough not knowing the state of Angela Rayner's finances.

Being dragged along with the USA decline and excuses for Israel's depravity, they could almost be the labour government.

Or the judiciary. (satire)......

BBC announces 550 job cuts as first part of £500m savings plan

In an email to staff, the corporation laid out proposals for the initial 200 job losses in the news division.

It's also why a host of presenters are being let go as their contracts run out.

Andrew Castle being the latest. I note he was quite dignified and grateful in his response to the BBC unlike some who think they had a god given right and losing their job was due to:

Racism
Ageism
Islamophobia

Castle just accepted that he had a good run and that it was over.

I agree, I think you misunderstood my point.

It is cost cutting because the bean counters have looked at the cost of the show versus the viewing figures and the numbers don't stack up. Disney came to the same conclusion.

The new DG has been told to save money so you look at the expensive shows and decide if they are value for money. It's why the World Cup team is based in Manchester.

As to why the viewing figures are terrible that is another argument frankly as I no longer watch the show I don't care. I think we both agree though the Disney tie in has been an expensive flop.

Doctor Who is just one of the many changes that are going on at the moment Lots of presenters are being let go as their contracts come up for renewal.

It's a bit of a blood bath (for the BBC) but business as usual for most other TV companies who do this all the time.
