Blimey!! I thought he did a decent job at wolves considering, he definitely improved them, plus he was doing well at Middlesbrough in the championship before he jumped ship to wolves
Stange one. Thought he was hired on the understanding that last season was essentially a write off for them and he was there to get them out of the Championship.

Wolves have sacked Rob Edwards!
I thought they said he was appointed to build for the future, not the here and now?

This is exactly the kind of mad s*** that creates instability. Its absence (mostly) at Palace is worth a good ten points a year to us, I reckon. It also makes us a more attractive proposition for decent managers than the likes of Wolves, I should think.

Steady as she goes, Steve. Steady as she goes.

Whilst I agree it seems a stupid decision doesn't every club when they hire make noises lie this?

I mean they are not likely to say Rob's our guy but only if he brings success, the moment he screws up he's out the door.

Of course, but they were pretty fecked by the time he turned up, then they sold their best player to us mid-season and didn't strengthen, on the basis of getting best value now rather than when in the Championship, so it certainly all looked like Edwards had signed in the expectation of getting things ready for next season. As you say though, who knows!

They do seem a bit of a mad house, to be fair.

When Edwards was appointed Wolves had only gained 2 pts from 11 PL games.
They were 8 pts behind Burnley who were just outside the relegation zone in 17th place.
I believe Edwards' only signings were Angel Gomes on Loan from Marseille and Adam Armstrong for an initial 7 Mill.
Edwards opening game as Wolves manager was the 2-0 home defeat to us.

I really have no problem with this, same with players.

Nothing lasts forever, asides from Franca and Doucoures injured status, and if a manager wants to come here and use us as a stepping stone then great! That means he'll have to achieve something whilst at the helm. Our floor is PL survival and therefore the aim must be for more than that, to step off the stone unto better things!
Exactly, we'll be using him the same as he'll be using us. Thats football. We should WANT other clubs to start to circle and speculation about his future to start in a year or two. That means he has been successful.
Its the opposite that we dont want. Poor performances and everyone wanting him gone

Something has clearly gone on there behind the scenes. Either that or as has been suggested Wolves may have just realised he is not the talent they thought he was. Wolves will have to spend money to get rid of him, get someone else in, maybe they might have to give the new guy a decent budget so he agrees to come. In a nutshell there is no way Wolves would have wanted to sack him. They battled to get him in the first place so somethings up in the Black Country

Makes you wonder what exactly he did do to screw up, if anything. Wolves were gone by the time he arrived barring a miracle not unlike Leicester the season before they won the Premier League. RE was primarily tasked with overseeing a rebuild / culture change next season.

I read somewhere that the guy being touted as his successor is Cesar Peixoto. He is (1) Portuguese and (2) in the Mendes camp. So maybe there has been some sort of men in suits play independent of anything RE has or has not done.

It is hard not to suspect money is the underlying reason somehow. Does the fit and proper person test for club ownership include putting your club's interests over personal or praeter club interests? It does not seem to look like it in modern day football.
