Things other than Palace

You can just go to "home" and select the "Palace talk" Threads from the tab. You don't have to read or engage with anything else, if you don't want to.

Is there a way to ignore specific threads? As in block them appearing... not just choosing not to click on them. As there's quite a few I can do without.

If not, that'd be my suggestion for any future updates to the site 👍👍

If you were looking at a forum dedicated to House of Commons debates I would fully expect it to have an off topic section as have most forums whatever the main subject

Yes.
Even the House of Commons itself occasionally discusses football in the chamber.
Football isn't entirely separate from real life. Football is real life

Nothing strange about it. Obviously, I don't bother to read topics I have no interest in. But with anything, if you think the 'system' is wrong, progress(if the general opinion/conclusion) may be achieved by people saying so, not putting one's head in the sand.
Reading the above posts it looks like you are swimming against the tide a bit like that King Canute fella, he just stood there and commanded the sea to retreat are you related?

You're correct in that I've a dislike of being in or on water and when I do snuff it, it will probably be by drowning!😒 - probably at the bottom of the garden, because when it does rain here, it's often in torrents. I wouldn't say I'm fighting a losing battle, but as much as I argue a football site should be just that, others can't accept it's illogical to then allow miscellaneous other topics. But these days, there seems more and more that doesn't make a lot of sense. No problem, there are far more important things to concern oneself.

Not Palace related chat. 😡

Hoisted by ones own petard

Just trying to lighten the tone. By definition, the topic was never to be about Palace.
I'll leave you know to get back to the topic 'What Women Really Want'.😴

You don't like General Talk. So started a topic thread in .... err...(checks notes) .....General Talk.

Also while keeping tabs on who is posting on other topics in General Talk. Got it.

I think in principle it would be nice to shape a website entirely to your tastes.....probably not healthy for society if everyone started demanding bubbles or safe spaces for everything.

But I don't really think many would have an objection to it.....I don't know.

However, because it's just so easy to not click on something I doubt software developers are bothered enough to do it.

But you never know.

Yeah, it's not exactly the same but I've said something similar to Dan.....I mean, if something about a website annoys you, just don't engage with it. It's like choosing to not watch a programme on a TV schedule. If the engagement is a negative for you, then do something else with your time that you enjoy.

However, If you enjoy the arguments or find them interesting or whatever, then fair enough, but it's hardly fair to blame people for having opinions you don't like.....when you never have to engage with them in the first place.

Exactly. Sometimes even had to video tape them just so I can be doubly sure how disgusted I am.
How noble to be so vigilant and taping them gave Channel 4 less cause to expose the nation to such questionable material by repeating it. It was also selfless of the station to pre warn everyone of what horrors they might accidentally stumble upon while endlessly scrolling between the other 3 options.

You can see now why the OP is unhappy on here. You never get suitable warning that you might be about to stumble over some bad puns or some innuendo about footballers with phallic names.
