They have to be good enough for this level though dont they? How many youngsters do you see at other Premiership clubs breaking through to the first team? We are one of the highest performers when it comes to nurturing young talent. Look at Chelsea. They have something like 300 young talents stockpiled in their academy and scattered around the World on loan. How many have broken into their team? Trev? Connor? Cant think of anyone else.

We’ve given younger players a chance, notably Eze, Olise and Wharton. They just are players we purchased due to their quality. What we haven’t seen since AWB is a player come through our academy who is good enough. That’s ok. The overwhelming majority of players won’t be.

I'd expect Cardines to become a regular fixture on the bench next season.
