Champions League Final

I actually called it last night when watching the penalties at home with my family.

When I saw Eze come forward, I said he was awful at Palace taking penalties. That is why Mateta takes them. Sure enough, missed.

Then when I saw Gabriel step up to take the 5th penalty, I said again bad idea to have a centre back take the 5th penalty. This could well go over the bar. Sure enough over.

Pity I didn't do the lottery on that form last night.
Arsenal's regular penalty takers, Odegaard, Saka, Havertz had been substituted before the game had ended so could not partake in the shoot-out.
Havertz was substituted for Eze and the German has an impressive record from the spot !
Perhaps the rules should be changed so that any player in the squad is eligible to take penalties in a shoot-out .

What about Madueke ? He was happy enough to snatch the ball off Palmer when Chelsea was winning
4 0.
Bottle job !

Arsenal just won the Prem and reached final of Champions League.

Bayern won there league plus a domestic cup.

Both have gotten more compared to if they had still been at Palace the conference is a joke of a competition just look at the teams in it only a handful you could class as being worth while.
Happy days are here again, 🤐

The danger being that more teams would play for penalties knowing they had specialists on the bench. Might as well skip the match and go straight to the shootout.

I really enjoyed that day.
A comfortable win & although as tinpot as a competition gets, it was a big day out for many , starved of getting feck all in the past.
Charity shield win over the Scouse was pretty good too !
Totally agree, the 33,000 of us that were there made it special. Fans didn’t need the internet to organise an atmosphere back then, it just happened

It’s sad when you are more accurate from 30 yards than the spot.

Please no-one tell me he practices the stagger step penalty in training because if he does the coaches need more of a bollocking than Eze.
Eze, is an instinctive player, soon as he has time to think about it ,it goes wrong.
Not sure now who it was against but remember him in a game for us shaping as he did last night and rolling it along the ground to be not just saved but virtually picked up.

As we know at Palace there are different ways to win football games. Arsenals game plan worked pretty well, but it always looked that if they had ,had a real go at PSG, they would lose. Tight but best team won.

The Conference may not be the top level European trophy but winning it is better than losing in the Champion League.
Granted, all the players who left achieved a degree of success, but success is relative to expectation.

Winning the FA Cup with Palace is a greater achievement than with Man City. Winning the league with Bayern is expected. City failed to win the league. I expect Arsenal's league winning celebrations fell pretty flat for Eze after the penalty shoot out.

The pure definition of mixed emotions.

I just hope we have a squad that keeps us up and remains competitive in the Europa at the same time. It’s not asking for a lot however I do have my worries for next season.

I was happy that Eze missed a penalty and Arsenal lost because it demonstrates to players leaving Palace for bigger clubs that the grass isn’t always greener in terms of outcomes.

Had Eze and Olise stayed at Palace, they might have won a European trophy. By chasing the ultimate glory, the ended up with nothing. I hope their bigger pay packets made up for it.

There’s always next time boys. 🙃
Well they have both won league titles, so I doubt if they felt the move was wrong. Having said that, it is funny that Arsenal had the first defeat parade on record today
