Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting we should. But most often we do. We have always left things late. We do most of our transfer business late, and that's been the same under multiple Directors of Football.

Dougie was a fantastic DOF but not someone that acted quickly.

It remains to be seen with Hobbs, I thought he might be different in that aspect when we signed Johnson on the 1st of Jan, but then nothing else happened until literally deadline day so was it just a unique deal? It will be easier to sus his style in this current window.
I meant following Sting's tantric approach - which is the only option for some folk.

In my opinion we would be taking a serious backward and downward step if Parish decides to install Lampard as our next manager. I honestly don’t think he has the skill or the attributes to take this club to the next level. Pierre Sage the Lens manager would be my choice personally, Tactically he is a manager that reads the game and counteracts the opposition very well. Plays mostly 3 4 3 which would suit our play. Might be a bit of a difficult appointment but then we can all wish.
But it doesn't, i want the wingers crossing not the full backs.

I was talking to a guy in the Pub last night and he said spread the word , put your money on Southgate . Thank you Mr McDazza.

He’s been referenced before - as long as it keeps Southgate away (who would probably be a decent director of football but not manager).
Played mostly in Germany, including Eintracht, bit higher level than Oli's playing days but nothing major, some Bundesliga, Kevin Keegan's Man City signed him early on but he returned to Germany without breaking through there. Never stayed more than a couple years at one club.

Started out in management in Luxembourg where he broke records and generally dominated, then had a brief un-notable spell in Belgium, then became Nagelsmann's assistant at Leipzig. Followed Nagelsmann to Bayern, left alongside him three years later.

After leaving Bayern he took over from Oli at Eintracht Frankfurt. 43% win rate with Eintracht, 50% win rate with Virton, and 70% win rate with Dudelange. Positive goal difference with all three (+194 at Dudelange, +12 at Virton, and +39 at Frankfurt.)

Willo? Is that you in disguise?

Joking aside, thanks for that, could be a solid appointment but some much noise it’s hard to figure who’s in play.

Some supporters might be concluding that we would be going from a manager who has delivered THREE trophies for us to a manager whose only success has been in Luxembourg and was relieved of his duties at Eintracht Frankfurt at the start of this year.

Thanks, I'll take that as a compliment, Willo has my respect. He's knowledgeable and eloquently spoken. Far more pessimistic than me towards the club most of the time, and I think politically we are very far apart.

Yes, a lot of rumours circling. The same media "source" will put out a different name tomorrow as the day before, that's how it's been for months. I trust the bookies more than the media, and the bookies have been on Andoni Iraola consistently for some time. But we will see.

Either of Iraola or Toppmöller would please me. In fact most names mentioned would... just please not Dyche or Southgate!

Fair shout but would you prefer Southgate?

Cesc Fabregas now 3-1 with betfair, the bookies haven't got a clue, the odds a up a down like a w****s draws.
That’s because it’s more often than not based on bets placed.

So if today 20 people put money on Juergen Klopp being our next manager he will suddenly be high on the list cos the bookies are reactive to bets being placed. It makes them think that maybe people know something and then they slash the odds cos they don’t wanna be caught out and, more importantly to them, have to pay out!!

I am honoured to receive such compliments and I thank you for your kind and generous sentiments.
I view myself as a fusty relic in the dusk of life and bow down to those on HOL who add value to this esteemed site with their wisdom, sagacity, insight and knowledge.

Reading up, Dino Toppmöller sounds like tactically he might be a good fit, with a strong focus on counter-attacking and fast transitions, similar to what we do now. We don't currently have the squad for a team that controls possession. I like the idea of his chaos theory in the final third, even if I've never actually seen it in action.

It was not meant as an insult at all. I love the detail we get so was genuinely appreciative of it and of Willo.
