Rayo Vallecano

their Form is much better than ours. Plus Rayo V having one more day of rest, prior to The Final. Us spending the Sunday playing the Prem Champions ( & Champions League finalists).

I think we asked the EPL if we could play today, since it is effectively a dead rubber.
They refused as they wanted to maintain the integrity of the EPL. I’m sure they are having a laugh….Integrity !!! Got 115 Citeh as well as Chelsea, who apparently sell hotels to themselves or more ludicrously their Ladies ‘ team. Latter ‘cost’ £200m.
End of rant…

The more I found out about Rayo Vallecano in the run up to the final the more I saw similarities with us - especially us in 1990.

Based in the capital
Blue collar fanbase
Passionate fans
First major final never having won major honours
A "yo-yo" club in the 1980s and 1990s
Decent run in the top flight this time around
Seen by the larger clubs as a bit of an upstart

I could not help but feel a bit sad for their fans and players at the final whistle: it was a completely different set of emotions for me compared to the FA Cup Final. I thought the way their players, and their fans, conducted themselves after the match was extremely classy.

That said, the sadness subsided quickly and that's football! COYP!!!!

Their fans were a class act and credit to their club.

Good fun pre match, congratulatory post match and didn’t stop singing during the match.

Palace fans were great too. An all round top event with colour, passion and played in the right spirit. It’s a shame one team had to lose.

Rayo have never been on my radar but they’re now my favourite Spanish team.

Agree with above. Didn't disappear after their players had received their medals ( unlike Citeh). I'll keep an eye on them too.
