Wan-Bissaka

West Ham owe him 23.4 million in future wages, unless there is a relegation clause.

Both Mitchell & Wan Bissaka played under Hodgson in the early parts of their first team careers, probably explains why neither are comfortable going forward, admittedly Mitchell has improved under Glasner.
Which is surprising because wan Bissaka was a winger until Richard Shaw had the brain wave of putting him at right back in the under 21’s

Wan bissaka was a winger before being converted to a full back.

I remember him settling up goals with crosses for the likes of Zaha and Batshuiyi.

I know that Roy is seen as a defensive coach but I don’t believe that narrative that he would tell a full back not to attack when they have the opportunity.

I’ve seen games under Roy when we had 30 plus efforts on goal (Burnley and Cardiff at home) and I’ve seen games under OG where we have had zero shots on target so I feel sometimes it depends on the personnel at a managers disposal, the opponents and how a match unfolds.

I can see the validity of the arguements for yes but even at £8m to £10m I’m sceptical. Yes he might work in a 4, and Clyne has served us well since returning, however he just seems to have lost it. One for Cov or the likes.

I want both Cardines and Imray to have opportunities. I don't like seeing the pathway for our youngsters blocked by having too many proven PL players ahead of them. Both Imray out on loan and Cardines on Sunday have shown that they may well be able to become PL players and I'd rather they became them with us.

The problem, of course, is allowing them time to settle. It took Mitchell time but because there wasn't any other option, he was allowed to make mistakes etc. Too often our youngsters aren't given the opportunity (i.e. a run in the team) unless it's a "needs must" situation as happened with AWB, Mitchell, Devenny and even Ozoh under Hodgson.

Its funny (though has its own logic), but we are like most clubs in that we are more inclined to allow young signings time to develop than youth team graduates. Olise and Eze both showed flashes of high quality from the outset, but also took a long time to be consistent, and to be a constant presence in games. Guehi was good and solid from the outset, but would get beaten on back post crosses quite a bit, for quite a while. Wharton couldn't play more than 60-70 mins, even though he'd been playing every week at Blackburn.

It's not like putting a youth team player in the side whilst knowing he will need time, patience, and a plan to follow, is out of keeping with our general transfer strategy or business plan. We do it for transfer signings.

I suppose its the old adage: The youth team player represents the lowest individual investment compared to signings, and so is the easiest to dispense with or overlook.
