When I first went regularly, which was in the 70s, there were abandoned houses everywhere, a legacy of population decline. You could buy them for peanuts and some people I knew did that, moved there from the UK for their retirement and enjoyed a great life. My wife will be in Dublin on Monday and Tuesday but not in a position to really observe too much. It's reliant on the tax take of six US companies which make up something like 65% of our entire revenue. All costs are high due to us being relatively at the end of the supply chain. Our demographics have changed dramatically with Ireland being more diverse than the UK. And believe it or not, hardly any are doctors or any kind of professionals at all. Although most work if they are allowed, in the lowest paid employment, gig economy. More than half of workers in Ireland now rely on state benefits. A crazy and unnecessary situation forced upon us by poor political choices since the 90s. No infrastructure improvements basically whatsoever, widespread tendering corruption and unreal housing situation. You wouldn't believe me if I told you what it is like. Homeless figures go up daily.

She won’t be missed. She has been conspicuous by her absence for several months. At least she seems to have a genuine reason for leaving. Her book will though be interesting.![]()

Nothing at all though compares to the corruption surrounding Trump. His family and associates are seemingly able to profit from the dramatic stock fluctuations seen in the past months caused by Trump’s regular flip flopping over Iran. Which either sends the oil prices skyrocketing or collapsing. Whether he is deliberately tipping people off or is just so inept that they can read what he is about to do through private remarks is unknown. When elites feel that they won't be held to account....this is what happens.
This is a Democrat scandal but I have little doubt that Republicans are in on corruption too.....especially the stock market....Well, that one is both Republican and Democrat.
Elites...both political and corporate/private, must not get away with stealing from taxpayers.

You have to admire his stumbling ineptitude and his base who would forgive him if he trephined their children.Nothing at all though compares to the corruption surrounding Trump. Then there is the new slush fund being established to “compensate” people who have “suffered” as a result of political persecution. Like the Capitol rioters. Or himself! Better described as a way to pay of personal loyalty when in breach of the law.
When you think there’s nothing else he would do that could be any worse than he has already done he seems to always find something more shocking.

Trump though is in a league of his own. He is corrupting the Presidency. Of the USA, the shining light of democracy in a challenged world. In doing so he is corrupting democracy, our heritage and our children’s futures.I think it's valid to mention stock market corruption in relation to Trump.
But it's not just Trump, so many of these feckers do it that it shouldn't be a partisan issue.

TDS means you couldn’t resist 😂😂😂Trump though is in a league of his own. He is corrupting the Presidency. Of the USA, the shining light of democracy in a challenged world. In doing so he is corrupting democracy, our heritage and our children’s futures.
He needs to go and be replaced by someone, whatever their politics, who publicly denounces what has happened, commits to holding those involved to account and to restoring the good name of the USA.
Right now it’s a laughing stock and the future has been handed to China on a plate.
