New shirt sponsor - Temporal

I don't think anyone had a problem with betting companies on football shirts, as if his move will really stop people getting addicted to gambling... It all stemmed from a campaign by a nanny state and implemented by a woke Premier League who love a bandwagon. Ultimately, Palace will now receive less revenue from this particular income stream.

Not necessarily. The club have found a new sponsor. We don't know the figures behind the new sponsor. For all we know they may be paying more than the fake betting site.

Does AI generally earn more than bookmakers? Right now it's a huge industry. A lot of money being sunk into it, even if it doesn't produce a real terms return on it just yet.

As for the morality issue, AI is probably similar. I welcome the ban on bookies though.

Apparently this deal came about through a mutual contact*, so they may not have been interested in playing the usual game and it all been a bit more courdial.

* source is someone claiming to be their CEO, on Reddit, so if it's complete bull-dookie I retract everything 😂

Exactly, I little flutter or two on matchday adds to my experience, only idiots start betting with the mortgage or rent money. If the money given to us by any betting firm helps to keep us competing at the highest level then I don’t care what we’ve got on our shirts

Do the ads encourage the former group of people or the latter?

I would suggest the former group doesn't pay any attention to them, whilst the latter group starts clucking for a bet and pulls out the laptop.

Did a bit of digging around and noticed that Woody Johnson is connected to the original Sequoia Capital, which is one of the main backers of Temporal. Not really connected commercially necessarily but certainly I'd say friends/ colleagues of the original founders of Sequoia Capital. He maybe had a friendly word and hopefully a good deal. Just the way you said it made me think one of the Americans would be involved. Can't quite see Steve hanging around the same circles.

Well Palace probably would have stated that it was a bigger deal if it was. Analysts in articles online have said the clubs' income will now fall.

There's a very simple reason why half the Premier League had betting sponsors - in this market they pay more!

In general you are right, but there is also a reason why AI has slowly been popping up on a few shirts now even before this, and was expected to slurp up a lot of the outgoing betting sponsors' slots (of which we now appear to be the first.).

They operate in at least the same ballpark figures as respective industries. AI is on a higher growth curve, some industry commentators say infinite although that doesn't really exist anywhere.

Gambling sponsors were very popular because they had the money to chuck around and the motive to chuck it around. They are not the only industry that fits those two categories though, and football quickly adapts to the scenario.
